i have been curious about cuba a lot and i am hoping to visit. I have a few questions:

1. Does anyone know a gay guide there? I feel like i need one if i hire

2. What is the hiring like? mostly street hiring?

3. hotel booking and possibility of bringing someone in?

I was last in Cuba in 2018.  At the time tour guides could be obtained from websites.  Since things have changed throughout the world, I would goggle gay guide in CUBA or Havana as a starter.  The man that I hired left Cuba two years ago; he had a great website, etc.

From what a late friend relayed to me about obtaining meetups from the street, this can be had from a major park (name forgotten) that's across the street from an exclusive hotel.

Forget about bringing company back to the hotels.  It's hell.  I stayed at The Hotel Presidente in 2016 and could NOT have company.  The elevators are monitored by a physical being.  In fact, in 1989 when I was there (my first time) staying at the Hotel that was Castro's headquarters, there was a guard of sorts at the entrance.  Even locals could not enter at ease.

Stay in a hotel but rent an apartment that can be obtained via airbnb.  I did this in 2018 but did not use because I had to abort my trip whiled there.  I stayed at a Casa Particular (family owned lodging) and had planned to have the apartment just to entertain company.

Since Covid has reacked havoc on the world, I'd wait a year or two to venture to Cuba.  Apparently, this country has had a vastly difficult time (the embargo impeding everything as well.). Also, if you don't speak any Espanol, it is highly advised that you have a guide.  I am one of those persons.  [English is NOT widely spoken.]. Also, buy a foreign currency, Euros or Canadian dollars since a hefty fee is charged when one exchanges the dollar for the Cuban currency.

You can send me additional queries via a pet. message if you desire.  I wish I could cite more as well as specifics, but my memory is not working 100%.

gay clubs are a good place to meet guys and rentboys liner on the street (la rampa) in the evenings

Are gay clubs allowed in Cuba? wow. Planning to go back? I'd like to go to Cuba sometimes

This travel site seems to be up to date, but I'm not sure how current its Cuba information is:

Gay-Friendly Nightlife

Humboldt 52
Humboldt 52 is Havana's first full-time, openly gay bar and has built up quite a legacy since opening in 2013. Great atmosphere and a helpful staff welcome guests, and throughout the week there are often drag shows, karaoke, or even opera performances!

Cabaret Las Vegas
This popular venue is known for its epic drag performances and even boasts some famous drag queens that have emerged from its stage.

Fashion Bar Havana
This up-scale joint is Cuba's only drag supper club, and is popular on weekends as gay tourists and locals alike gather for performances that will have you booking your next trip back to Havana.

etcetera....

I’m traveling to Havana next month and I am wondering if anyone has been to Cuba recently. I have booked my accommodation and tour/experiences through airbnb but have been unsuccessful in finding a guide/fixer for the gay attractions if there is any.

I would love to hear any recommendations.

Gracias!

there's an area called la rampa and in the evening there's guys just hanging around - they can take you to the bars (but will want u to buy them drinks and can be clingy) otherwise i found it hard to find the venues myself as i think they open and shutdown and have odd timings and don't really have signage

it's pretty safe for foreigners as the gov't desperately needs tourists money and a guy can make more in an hour escorting than a doctor makes in a month

Hi. So through planetromeo, I was able to set up some dates. I also met a guy on romeo who turned out to be some kind of fixer in setting up masseurs for me. Out of the six guys I contacted only one turned out to be goodlooking / better looking in person.

Only one masseur had legit skills and with extras . The massage is $20 plus a $5 tip.

i gave the fixer $10

the escort from insta stayed with me for two days and was a great companion and top. I gave him $100 plus 2000 CUP for his fare (rates were agreed upon before the meeting ) since he lived two hours outside of Havana.

King bar havana is a fun gay bar-dance club with plenty of locals/tourists/expats. It’s a good mixed crowd of gays, lesbians and straights.

rylac and pazillo bars are more chill.

there is a luxury rooftop bar on top of Hotel Telegrafo that’s considered the high end gay bar in Havana and from what i heard plenty of gay for pay models and rentboys hang out mainly because the clientele is mostly tourists but from what I gathered the bar only accept credit cards and as you may already know, US issued credit & debit cards  don’t work in Cuba so I didnt even bother to go.

i booked a drag show/art gallery nightout through airbnb experience which was so Much fun. My experience host was Jose and he is the nicest and Most fun guide I had in my entire trip. Being gay and a millennial the company was easy going.

also, as 4/5 star hotels are off limits to US citizens, I stayed in an airbnb where local guests are not allowed in the room. My fixer allowed me to bring guys to his place but since his place is in Diez de Octubre, taxi costs USD 10-15 one way.

there are other room options on planetromeo but most of these places really look modest so be prepared to just use it for the encounters.

mi cayito is decadent but i only spent two hours in the morning on the beach so I didn’t get to have fun at the beach.

overall, the quality of guys I met is below par. The great looking guys hang out in a place off limits to me or as i was told, there were workarounds to not using a credit card but it was just too much of a hassle for me to even try.

Would i go back to cuba? I would, but maybe spend more time in mi cayito  and explore other towns and perhaps lower my expectations.

or I can also go to puerto Vallarta for a relatively same budget and meet better quality guys. A trip to Brazil seems like gay heaven but the fare alone is so impractical unless i plan to spend at least two months in the country.

just shoot me Qs if you have any.
