Chatting with a nice guy on Tinder. Switched to text. Swapped photos . Now he's threatening to post my nude photos on social media. He obtained my name and address even though I certainly didn't give him any of that. Safe to ignore?

That's what I thought. Any other advice? Get a separate phone for social apps?

In general, if you use your real name, phone number, or email.... people can find ways of linking it to other things.  Even using the same username in places (for example, "RadioRob") could possibly link to another profile you might have with Spotify or Amazon.  Those accounts could also spill additional information and allow someone to build a more thorough profile of "you".

So in general, don't use the same "personal" info really anywhere if possible.  That includes phone number, username, email...  anything unique to you....  if it's tied to something you prefer to keep private, have a separate EVERYTHING for that private activity.

I don't know if it's the law everywhere but if someone posts nude photos of someone against or without their permission it's a crime. Revenge porn. And you'd have the texts to prove it was them so I'd ignore but save the texts and keep an eye out on that person's social media accounts for a little while.

I'm in the camp that says to just ignore the threat.

Hopefully the nude photos you shared don't include your face anyway.  When I used to share a nude photo of me, it didn't include my face.  Sending a fully nude photo of myself with my face included to someone I didn't know just never made sense to me.  I know lots of men post naked photos in online profiles so I realize that some other men don't share the same level of privacy concern, but I just didn't want to run the risk of problems at work related to naked photos of myself being seen by people who shouldn't see them.

My face was not part of the nude photo.

luckily I called the police and a nice young officer responded. Blond, muscular, hairy, nice. I made sure he had my number!
