If one decides to slut it up in NYC but also wants to stick with Marriott Bonvoy hotels (preferably above category 6), which ones would you recommend?

I don't really speak "Marriott" but I would suggest finding a hotel in midtown, close by Hells Kitchen and Times Square. The Marriott Marquis and the Westin are both popular with my friends.  The rooms are smallish, but that is typical NYC. For a larger space, consider a Residence Inn as they usually have a small seating area as well.
