Updated Community Guidelines (Feb 03, 2022)

As most of you know, the moderators had a chance to meet up in person last weekend in Ft Lauderdale for some working sessions around areas to improve the site.  Part of the conversations included our community guidelines and an effort to help modernize them given a lot has changed over the last year.

I wanted to share some key changes that have been made:

  • The rule prohibiting reviews in the forums have been removed.  We're going to push people to use the new Review database as it's launched, but given that we're no longer trying to separate the forums from the review site this guideline no longer makes sense.  With that being said, within the Spa… existing guidelines for posting remain: Please be careful so as not to compromise provider licenses when discussing the services provided by masseurs.
  • The rule prohibiting explicit content has been updated.  More explicit content WILL be permitted in areas of the site that are not accessible to guests.  (This includes the new Pornography category in our new Image Gallery and the new pornography discussion forum.)  You will know if an area is "Members Only" that title will be included in the area's name.  In the members only area, the following rules will apply: No Pedophilia, Necrophilia,  Bestiality, Xylophilia -- This is about half of our normal rules.  It should let you have a pretty open ability of what can be posted in the non-public areas.

  • There have been updates to rules that apply specifically to the Political Issues forum.  We're not going to use the same points-based warning system use on the rest of the site.  In the PI forum, we're going to follow a "three strikes" rule.  If a post violates a rule, it will be removed and the user will receive a strike.  If a user receives three strikes, they will lose access to the Political Issues forum.
  • We have added a new section added regarding signatures.  Specifically political content (such as political affiliation) or listing members you are ignoring is not going to be allowed.  In addition signatures will be limited to no more than 7 lines.

Is this an exhaustive list of the change to the rules?

I did not do a formal "diff" between the two versions.  Instead, I went through my notes to grab all of the big items we covered.  It's certainly possible there was something I unintentionally missed and if I did...  I'm sure someone here would be kind enough to point out my mess up!

Not needed. Just curious. So the rules about interpersonal behavior between members have remained unchanged?

4.     Hateful speech is not allowed. Members are not permitted to use hate speech, call names, or label people/groups of people. Wishing death upon and/or celebrating the death of individuals or groups is considered a form of hate speech.

5.     Attacks against other people are not allowed. Members are free to criticize the opinions of others but are not permitted to attack other members, groups of members, or people who are the topic of discussion. This includes wishing death upon or celebrating the death of individuals or groups.

Now...  there are nuances around what is name calling or hate speech, etc...  saying "you're acting foolish" is not considered name calling.  However saying "you're a dumbass fool" would be as an example.  Saying you wish all the "libtards would die" would violate name calling and wishing death upon a group.

It's impossible to spell out every single scenario.  Our goal is not to dictate interaction between members in general either. Members have tools to be able to ignore other members that they disagree with and don't wish to see/interact with.  The Community Guidelines are designed to set a baseline standard for which we agree to follow.
