I think we have enough monuments to wars, don’t you?

As someone who’s served memorials focus on the memories of those that sacrificed. It’s definitely not intended to glorify the wars which is something we should never do.  Honestly politicians should take a stroll down The National Mall more often and remind themselves that wars cost more than just money. Not knocking your opinion just offering a different perspective.

Thanks, my graduate school roommate was killed in Vietnam. I try to remember him at the Vietnam War Memorial. Family and friends still leave messages  to Steve at the Memorial at Christmas

The Vietnam memorial is the most successful, I think, at illustration of human loss from war.

The War on Terror will never end, so any memorial to it needs to be boldly never finished, constantly in the way, inconvenient and ugly, mostly hidden, just little bits of progress every 6 months or so, as the footprint constantly shifts, pedestrian (even auto) traffic getting re-routed in different ways by shifting barricades covered by flags.   Re-routing as an eternal warning: Don’t start a war that has no definitive end.

The only visible figure to be paid homage should be that of Rep. Barbara Lee (D)CA, with the inscription “I told ya so”

She Voted No
