Occasionally I see fake provider profiles on RM, some obviously so and others not so much. I’m curious, what’s the end game for these people? Are they trying to show up and assault/rob a client? Just trying to string people along for their own entertainment? Some sort of blackmail setup? Something else?

Additionally, what are some common sense ways clients can protect themselves from this sort of thing?

This topic gets asked a lot. Use the search function and I'm sure you'll see by how much. :)

It could be any number reasons. For example, some guys don't want their true identity known so they use the pictures of other people. They may look similar (in face and/or body) or not... to the pictures they chose. They have no intentions of hurting the client. They just want their identity kept secret for whatever reason.

Potential clients sometimes don't care when they meet the guy because he may be better looking or similar to the pics he's using. The clients may be too horny or scared to walk away. Sometimes the clients can't tell the difference between what's pictured and who is at the door.

Of course it could be also for nefarious as you mentioned. tzhe thing is without adequate information you won't know either way why the provider chose to use certain pics or place the ad.

Pretty much as said. And I’ve seen first hand guys using fake pictures and turn up as someone else. All turned out to be well, but my thing is when a client does disagree…then turns the guy away and a confrontation ensues.

A client of mine told me about this once. The guy pictured was a hot guy, but who showed up was some old guy. When the client turned him away, the “escort” gave him a mouthful. Scary situation indeed.

I’d even say some people may think clients are so desperate that they’ll take anyone regardless of the photos. Maybe back in 2002 that was okay when print was out and photos were uncommon in escort ads. But definitely not these days.
