I just had to make a post before the judges render their opinions. I hated David A.'s 1st song choice and loved Brooke's 1st song choice. We'll see what the judges say later on...

I liked Brooke's choices tonight and thought she did well. Sayesha again tonight seemed to have the biggest and best voice but I believe she will be voted off for a host of reasons not the least of which is a lack of teenybopper votes.

David Cook is my pick to win.

Jason is my pick to cruise into third based on a microscopic talent and a face the gods smiled upon. Teenage girls alone wont get him past the other two men though.

Lastly David A. I have seen little new with him since the onset. He seems to have grown the least and still is having praise heaped on him by the judges, most of the judges most of the time. He definitely has the 8-13 year old bloc a powerful bloc in this kind of contest so he should be top two but will not likely win as I think the majority of the other contestants votes will go with the other David.

Posted

I think the end will be the Duel of the Davids.

David Cook is more modern and has a lot more experiences than David A., obvious, David A is way younger and grow up in such a religious background, kind of limit your view of the world and kind of songs he listens. David A likes to choose "inspirational" songs, for a while, it was inspirational, but now it's just getting old. He doesn't seems to care about changes at all, just sing the same ol tunes, but he is a diamond in the rough, I just hope he doesn't turn out like Clay Gaykin.

David Cook on the other hand is a real musician, he understands how to transform a sound from the by gone era and turn them contemporary. Even though he did copy some other muscian's style before, but i think now he is finally himself on stage.

well, anyhow, both of them surely will have record contract waiting for them, that's when they will have prove themselves. And that's when most of the previous idol failed.

Agreed! Agreed! Agreed! Tonight while I watched the program on the West Coast, I thought to myself after all had performed that it will come down to the battle of the Davids, which is all right with me.

I do hope that either Jason (the cutie who I'd love to lick all over) or the attractive but limited talented blond girl is voted off this week. Neither did much for me, personally in terms of talent, but both of them are "lookers!"

Posted

The two David's have more talent then the other 22 finalists combined.

It should come down to the two of them in the final and David Archuleta just might pull it off - he's so all-american looking that all of the 8 to 16 year old girls will vote for him. And he actually has the best and most consistent singing voice. After all, it's the 8 to 16 year olds that won it for Jordin Sparks.

Jason "dreads" Castro, Brooke "look at me I'm blonde" White and Syesha "I can't decide if I'm Aretha, Whitney or Fantasia" Mercado should all go - Fox could save two weeks of air time by letting all three go on Wednesday. At least Carly left last week so we don't have to look at that freak husband of hers.

I'm still pissed that Melinda Doolittle didn't win last year - she has a much better voice than Jordin or Blake.

Posted

There certanly is no "talent" reason for David Cook and Brooke White to still be on the show. Their voices suck. White's pitch is all over the place and Cook has just a "wisp" of a voice. When he tries to go low or high the notes just disappear into a whiff of smoke. In 5 years all he will have left is a middle voice. Both are pathetic. But the fans of the show don't seem to get that.

Jason is a freak show and his choice of songs and tempi continue to be bizarre. Sayesha or Aiesha or Makesha ... whatever the hell her name is. She should be on Broadway.

That leaves the kid, Archuleta. I thought he was, as usual, terrific especially in song number 2. But I do wish he would stick to ballads which is where his pure voice really connects with an audience.

He should win in a walk if there's any justice which is probably while he'll lose.

By the way, was Paula Abdul drunk last night or what? She seemed to not have a clue what she was doing.

You continue to use this 8-13 year old voting bloc thing without a shred of evidence to back it up. Why don't you put up or shut up with some hard evidence to back up your stupid assertions.

Most of the people I know voting for him are over 40.

He has "grown the least." How exactly have Castro or Cook or White "grown?" If anything they sound worse for wear and they are all MATURE adults.

Archuleta is still a kid. What he has been is consisitent throughout with great song choices and a sweet, pure voice that none of the others can touch.

As for Sayesha's supposed great voice ... you'd find thousands of voices like that in any black church choir in the country. She's a dime a dozen.

I do think that Cook will coast through to a win because he seems "edgy" but his voice won't even make it through the tour. He has a range from A to B.

Yes, I really enjoyed David Cook's Neil Diamond impersonation tonight. Not. That's what it was. He was just channeling Diamond and it was god awful.

And I love your bigoted comment about religion. Jeez. One would have thought that those kinds of statements would have gone out with the Inquisition.

>Just found this on the net. It is a VERY UNSCIENTIFIC POLL from EW.com Poll

It basically ask its readers to express their opinion as to who among the five remaining contestants should go home after their performances of Neil Diamonds songs. And here are the results:

42% Jason Castro

27% Brooke White

18% Syesha Mercado

10% David Archuleta

3% David Cook

I find the poll interesting as I do not know the statistical demographics of EW.com Poll compared to the viewing audience of American idol.

What comes to my mind is: does it have te same sampling characteristics as the people who vote for their American Idol or just like many blogs, bulletins, and vetting machines --- the respondents did not even text via A T & T their votes or call the toll free number to cast their vote. I am also convinced that the websitedid not use a statistically accepted methodology to forecast the outcome of the show (I may be wrong of course! But I dd not see any disclaimer or even a + or - accuracy of its forecast factor! (my terms!) it is most commonly called -- margin of error by market research companies!

I look at these polls, EW.com Poll included as very much similar to the Monday night Quarterbacks, the Miss Universe prognosticator or the Oscar winners annual charlatan/predictors -- sometimes they hit the target--- sometimes, they dont!

I posted it here...just for fun...see how the website's polls stand to a reality check! :)remember folks: JUST FOR FUN!

"...was Paula drunk or what..." When she began addressing the guy's second song and performance-- I lay on my sofa and asked aloud, "Honey, what's up with you?" "Where have you been?"

Something was bizarre as well as remiss with her.

But, for once, I liked the way she critiqued the five after she'd come to grips as to what was happening. Usually, I think she attempts to find the good while overlooking what she really should be conveying, but last night I liked her assessment and thought she seemed genuine and real.

Meanwhile, Congress is about to hand Bush $108 billion more of our tax dollars for his Iraq mess, with his threatened veto if it includes additional funds for educational grants to veterans, which they were promised at enlistment. We apologize for this interruption, and now return you to the Battle of the Davids. :p

In the 50s "I Love Lucy" was the #1 rated show on TV. Senator Joe McCarthy was at the height of his power. It was discovered that Lucille Ball had once registered to vote as a communist (to please a relative).

It was tough for a few days, but the public sided with Lucy. Unless one of judges, or possibly the host, screws one of the contestants on air, "American Idol" (as totally mindless as it is) will survive while it gets good ratings.

(I realize that Rick knows this, but other might not).

I think that if someone is reading something call American Idol Tonight, one would expect it to be about American Idol. Some people actually need a break from the horrors of the real world and seek solace in mindless fluff. Thanks for ruining my mindless fluff break Rick. By the way, how are the dolls.

>Some people actually need a break from the horrors of the real

All of television, including cable news, is mindless fluff. The way the gov't gets away with everything it gets away with is because many people don't want to pay attention. Remember, the "mindless fluff" forum here is at the top, while the political forum is at the bottom. But I wasn't criticizing anybody for posting about or watching American Idol; even though I don't watch that or any other current TV shows, I find the threads entertaining. I just wanted to interject something serious into the discussion; kind of like a commercial break in reverse. :p

I agree with you on Melinda. I wonder what shes up to. I should do a google search to see if she has put out a record or something. Jordin appears to be doing well, though. I wonder how Blake's Walmart released album did }(

Now ending two weeks early? Fox should end its mega cash cow two weeks early becaaause.....

The ratings are too high?

The show is making too much money?

If I had it my way, the contestants would be getting a cut of the obscenely large profits this show is making.

I want the the 3 guys to be the final three. I think that one of the Davids will win, especially David A., as he should. But I want my favorite piece of singing eye candy to stay as long as possible :)

Good point Rick. However, now that I think about it, I give Idol credit for taking advantage of its high ratings and doing its Idol Gives Back shows. At first I thought that it was cheesy, but now I really think that viewers who would not usually watch a charity telethon end up watching Idol Gives Back. As a result viewers learn about some of the more serious problems that disadvantaged people face around the world. Learning in itself is good because educated people can lobby their lawmakers to make change. In addition to learning, however, viewers also get a chance to immediately make a contribution to improve the situations they see. That has to be good for something.

Mark I understand your style is to throw it our faces and can work, but at least allow a discussion on the matter. Music like escorts is a personal choice and everyone has different flavors they like.

I like David A. he has a great deal of potential, but I just do not feel his voice has matured enough. I just feel he would have been better served waiting a year or two. I really think Idol should go back to the original rules and contestant has to be 18 at the time of he audition. I feel the same about Jordan a year ago. What is the rush to get a kid out of high school.

The public will vote what they will David A I believe is still the most popular but I like what David C has brought. He puts a lot of care and methodogy into what he presents. You do not have to like but many of us do and I like it.

But maybe most important I watch this for entertainment only as I walk on my treadmill. I do not get caught up with any of the voting and as soon as it is over I turn to watch UFC which is really the most entertaining show and hot guys. Whoever wins Amercian Idol I hope they have a good career and they earned it as they worked hard for it.

Hey we even had a reasonable sex scandal out of it. Now back to UFC.

Interesting! Jason Castro (loves those blue eyes and his long legs all wrapped in tight blue jeans!) survived the cut! :)

Many blogs, pollsters and bulletin forecasts predicted he will go away after tonight --Oh boy...He is well ensconced in the TOP FOUR! I believe Jason Castro has a very big base of followers that cross bounderies (again, I said I...means it is my opinion, based on a hunch!)

I dont know but, somehow,I thought he was the underdog! and America likes the underdog!

I convinced a lot of my friends and family to vote for him last Tuesday night ... like I did ( I successfully cast more than 20 phone viotes and 20 text votes! ) I do believe that David A has a better chance at the finals togther with David C...but for now, I do want Jason Castro to stay! He may be prissy or effeminate has the worst voice and singing style o the top five BUT! he has got the balls that ring my bells! -- He is beautiful, has a certain vulnerability in his voice and most of all -- he is pushing himself to his limits! I was just mesmerized to cast my votes for him (first tme for me! lol) These are good enough reasons for me to vote for him. Maybe most of the 45 M American Idol voters think like I do. Thus he is safe!

I know...I know...American Idol is a SINGING competition! Do you think I care? it is my time that I wasted voting for him, my text messages ... my telephone and fingers that were used to contribute to Jason Castro's being in the TOP FOUR! Am I voting for the wrong contestant ? Try telling that to the people, who like me, were patiently and methodically dialing to vote for Jason Castro! :)

Absolutely! Thanks for telling me about that; I'd never heard of Idol Gives Back before. They have such a huge viewing audience; it's great when they use that power to try to improve the human condition. I'll never disparage Idol again. :)
