Not to throw cold water on this thread, but a study came out of Europe a couple of days ago (sorry, don't know which org) that said in their tests the protection from COVID antibodies last 3-weeks on average. Granted, that's one study, but I think at this point it's better to be safe (though I've been having fantasies about a guy I've been wanting to try as my first hire.) My SO, who is a nurse, tested positive for the antibodies about three weeks ago so I don't doubt we both had it...we were both weirdly sick in Feb for about two weeks. While I would love a little masculine touch (massage or more) I'm more concerned our planned trip to Madrid and Portugal in Sep will get cancelled...travel is our biggest joy in life.

Antibodies are not the only thing involved in immunity. T-cells of which there are multiple types are just as important and sometimes more so because they can stimulate the immune system to produce more antibodies. The few papers than have published of vaccine trials have shown t-cell production. This is positive news.

I think its too risky to contemplate hiring an escort anywhere right now. It's kind of like asking "is it risky to play russian roulette?" The answer to both questions is pretty obvious. No disrespect to the OP of course.

Agreed ?? Don’t you feel sometimes that posts of this nature are seeking approval/permission from other posters. Like...if a few people say “sure, it’s ok to hire now in NYC” they are able to shrug off personal responsibility?

I suppose you could calculate the probability based off the positive case rate for the city against the population of the city as a whole. I find raw numbers not terribly useful. 300 new daily cases is very different in a city of multiple millions versus even 30 new cases in a city of just a couple of thousands. Furthermore, if NYC is testing a lot, you’d expect to find more cases as a percentage of the whole.

2% of 100 is 2

2% of 1000 is 20

2% of 15,000 is 300

The point is just if the testing is effectively taking a snapshot of the moment, and NYC is doing 100 or of 15,000 tests, with a 2% positive rate, the numbers will change. So to say new 300 positive cases means little unless that 300 reflects a change over against other metrics.

I agree..I think the positivity rate and the overall number of tests is very important. That's why 2 percent of 15,000 or 20,000 tests a day is a really good sign there isn't much community transmission happening. The CDC says under five percent with decent testing is a good sign generally that the disease is not spreading much in an area. That's why Florida is concerning. They are averaging 18 percent positivity and doing 50,000+ tests a day. That's a sign that COVID is spreading fairly widely in the many areas.

Governor Cuomo says he's concerned NY may see a "second wave" of cases back in NY from other states where the approach hasn't been as rigorous and where the spread of the virus is escalating. He distinguished this from the "second wave" previously predicted where mutations/adaptations of the virus result in a new round of infections (which is still predicted).

Perhaps from someone like Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp?

I wonder if people like @BnaC are concerned about mandated mask wearing to protect people during a pandemic.
