Merlin, thank god you came over here to the Traveling Hoovillians section where we can just talk turkey and leave the semantics to others. Of course Numbers is not closed! I was lying when I said that over in the other forum! Don't you see? IF people think it's closed, they won't go there! That means more hustlers for me! Now, I am only letting you in on this little secret because you are a Republican...and well, you know how Republicans add class to gay hustler bars! But let's keep it between us, okay?

Yes, Numbers has closed. The word is that it will reopen as a piano bar and restaurant.

Here's the link to the thread in the Forum here:

And here's the link to the IN Magazaine story with the details:

I was very fond of Numbers, and hope that, in its new incarnation as Digits, it will continue to serve the older gay population of LA and their friends, and that it will prosper.

Merlin, the traveling Hoovillean meets many bumps in the road. Now I haven't confirmed this for myself, but a friend said he drove by Numbers last week and the sign had been taken down, the place closed up tight.

Tomorrow being a gay holiday in West Hollywood, surely some more credible participant here can go there and verify all of this.

And this post is the first time I have noticed that this forum is spelled

Traveling HooVILLIANS. I like VILLEAN better since it carries on from HooVILLE. Less sinister, too!

Thanks Lucky. There was a suggestion that the plan was to reopen it under a different name and format. I come to WeHo several times a year for the fun of it. But with both Mickey's and Numbers gone, I was waiting for one to reopen.

I went by over Labor Day Weekend and, while it is true that Numbers was closed, there was one of those legally-required public notices on the door which stated that it planned to reopen as 'Digits'. I wish a local would fill us in on whether the application was approved and, if so, whether the format will be changed.

Numbers/Digits reopening Nov 2

I heard from the new bar manager that Digits reopens on Friday, Nov 2. My favorite bartender from the Boom in Laguna Beach will be the Bar Manager and one of the male dancers from the boom will be one of the waiters. So the managers and the owners must have worked out their differences.

Numbers/Digits reOPENED

I randomly swung by last night and noticed it was open. I'm not a 'fab 5' type but man that powder blue upholstery is ugly. Also $8 for a jack and coke seems a bit much.

Had parked at the *20 minute only* meters so I didn't have time to order any food, but the one dish I saw looked pretty good (and not like typical Numbers items from the past).

There were two hot guys at the bar, not positive either was working, but quite possibly...

I think us Hoovillians have to get together and give the place a full review sometime soon!

RE: Numbers/Digits reOPENED

$8 seems about right for a mid to top shelf adult bevie and seems about right for what I've paid for in the past in LA and other cities. Now if they are measuring the shot I just order one and thats it and switch to water or soda.

Greg

If they don't grab it from the bottom of the shelf the stuff that is usually hidden from view then it would or could be considered mid and or top shelf. When I do my Vodka I NEVER drink the well stuff or any of the well drinks. They are usually made cheaply and I end up sicker then a dog and pay dearly for it. But then again I haven't really had an adult bevie since I was in Memphis and that was just one yummy micro brew beer with dinner. Who knew of all places Memphis would have micro brews? Thought that was just a northwest thing. :)

Hugs,

Greg

Sorry Greg. It doesn't matter if they pull it out of their ass. JD is NOT top shelf.

JD & Coke for 8 bucks is airport pricing. (IOW way over the top for a captive audience that has no choice.) Do they offer a "double for a dollar more"?

I shudder to think what they might charge for a good single-malt. You'd need a second mortgage.

(And I'm tempted to go there just to *ask*. ;-))
