Below, 1940's photo of the Black Cat - one of the earliest gay bars in San Francisco "Off limits to naval and military personnel" They even posted military police (Army & Navy) outside to prevent enlisted men from entering.

history nut that I am, had to look up the place.....I'll bet there may be a forum member who was here before it closed in 1964.....quite a history.....the building still stands at 710 Montgomery, now occupied by an upscale French cafe.......the google link is safe for a "now" picture......

For those of us involved in the legal battle over gay rights on the East coast in the 1960s, the Black Cat was legendary. So when I made my first visit to SF in 1967, I hoped to see it, but it was gone.

Great shot of Gilbert Roland (above), @Danny-Darko. I don't think I've seen that one before. He was a real beauty for a long while. Here are two more images of him that I like. Pretty sure at least the one by the pool has been posted on the forum before.

Thank you! I had no idea who he was. I usually like posting some bio or information on what is known, but in this case, I found the picture with no information and thought he was a very elegant gentleman. Thanks again for enlightening us on who he was.  :)
