Five of the Rent boys calling cards, advertising the merchandise at gangster Biff Ellison’s boy brothel Columbia / Paresis Hall in New York in the 1890s.

Picture 4  Joshua

Picture 5  Willy “The Bull” - sorry that his face is partially obscured, but I suppose his clients attention was diverted to other things.

I am surprised at how well dressed the escorts were!

Bob Mizer and the AMG Boys:

Smiling faces. Glistening bodies. Loaded posing pouches. Bob Mizer’s camera turned common boys into stars.

But life at AMG wasn’t always idyllic. Some of those stars were “trade”. Some were AWOL. Some were petty criminals. Occasionally, in return for his generosity, Bob was robbed or assaulted and his property damaged.

Two more previously unseen pictures of John Davidson (one of my favorites). The top one is by Milo, and the bottom, I think is Bob Mizer.

John had grown up on a farm, and could not wait to turn eighteen, so he could model himself, and join the marines. Bob Mizer took many photos of young John, just weeks before he was deployed in Vietnam. Mizer asked John to contact him again when he returned on leave, so they could do more photoshoots, and John said he certainly would.

Sadly this was not to be, soon after the above photo was taken, John died suddenly en route to Vietnam, having contacted encephalitis. Bob Mizer said John was one of the nicest young men he worked with.
