RE: Rest in Peace Big Red (NYC) - Update

Here's an update on this particular story from the Washington Blade. The medical examiner lists "acute intoxication" due to drugs or alcohol but could not determine if it was accidental or suicide or murder. Both individuals in this case appear to have died from the "combined effects of Amitriptyline, Clonazepam, Oxycondone, Ramelteon and Tramadol."

>Although those medications are all quite common, it would defy probability for two men to die from an overdose of those exact medications in the same house within a week of one another. Tramadol, Ultram brand name, is a pain medication with a relatively safe toxic profile. Amitryptyline, Elavil brand name, is an antidepressant and neuropathy drug, which is quite toxic and has a low toxic range. Oxycodone, Oxycontin, is a well known pain medication.

As to whether the police can put together a case, that probably depends on the desire of the individual officers involved to do so, but just the fact that both men had the same drugs in their system makes a good starting point for a circumstantial case.
