I'm going to PV for a week in January. Any suggestions for a nice place to stay?

I always enjoy Hotel Mercurio, which is a gay hotel. Basic accommodations, but can't beat the central location and great front desk and bar staff.

The only quality gay hotel in town is Casa Cupula. They take very good care of their guests and have some nice suites.

My recommendation is to look at Airbnb or HomeAway at some of the new, design-based condos that have gone up recently. Stunning, open-air views, great amenities and close enough to the action without being so close you have to hear a bassline all night.

 

Personally, I can tell you the Sayan properties are tops. Their new Indah building is beautiful.

I've stayed at Hotel Mercurio more than half a dozen times, and it is a wonderful place, with great breakfasts, and friendly staff, though the rooms are hardly luxurious, and you must turn off the AC when you leave the room. The location is quite central and convenient. If you want a more luxurious experience, and want to be on the ocean, the place to be is the Hotel Almar, where I stayed last year with my Paraguayan friend, and where I'll be staying in 3 weeks with a new Colombian beau. It's a bit of a walk to the main part of town (10 mins), but convenient to the gay beach. You can't go wrong with either place (Almar is quieter). Last year, one had to buy breakfasts separately at the Almar, but this year the room rate I got included breakfast. We'll see how it compares.
