Being blocked by masseurs

I've been blocked by two masseurs on rentmasseur.com -- when I sign in, their ads won't pull up for me. The only reason I can think of why I've been blocked is that my profile has been mostly visible, and they could see that I viewed their ads multiple times without inquiring about an appointment. I'm not particularly drawn to either masseur, but I could change my mind. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Is it unusual?

Hi there, @BigNoiseDallas -

I'm pretty sure there was a thread within the last year that discussed similar behavior on rentmen - users blocked by advertisers for no apparent reason other than visiting their ads.

I think the general consensus was that it's odd behavior that doesn't seem to help the provider in any way, but certainly their prerogative.

I have no idea why a provider would block or be non-responsive, especially when I'm such a fantastic client. I did decide to change my profile to private. I don't see any advantage showing my status or number of visits to a provider's ad.

Trying to filter through to the decent, sane men providing massage can be tricky. I've blocked providers on rentmasseur that have been a waste of time trying to communicate with them, or that have terrible stories others shared about them on this forum. That way I will remember not to bother with them down the road.

It is not unusual.

I am not above blocking a client whose view count is exceptionally high, but I only do this when the provider has said absolutely nothing to me, even after I’ve said hello and introduced myself. Because at this point you’re just peeping through the bushes, and I don’t like that.

Such an odd funny thread. You’ve all affirmed my decision not to register on these sights as a potential client. I can’t help but imagine a curtain being pulled shut as I’m happily ogling the cute puppies in the pet store window because I’ve been their daily without buying one.

Perhaps you can see more by doing so, but if you want to see a particular profile, just don’t log in.

But then you can’t see the best part, the videos (grins devilishly).

A year ago or so, I checked on a NYC based masseur's page and he mailed if I was interested in a massage. I replied that I wasn't and he asked me why if I had checked his page twice. I told him that he was not my type. He replied aggressively saying that I was rude, that his looks had nothing to do with his professionalism, or something to that effect. When I went back to re-read the exchange, I could not access his page. He had blocked me.

I had viewed rentmassuer ads for years before finally paying to register. I can view ads in a very methodical way, and I'm sure there are plenty of providers who saw me look daily without ever contacting. I had been a member for weeks before I even discovered that some of the providers I had viewed had sent me an in-app message, then called me rude for not responding, and blocked me.

I hadn't even looked at a single message at this point - I just hadn't looked at RM as a place where one sends mails.

With all of these comments, I think I am going to register on RM with a profile.

This might sound crazy, but I’d prefer that any Masseurs who wouldn’t want me as a client would block me. It saves me time, and I’ll be able to pick from those who want me as a client.

It’s actually a win-win for both parties when you really think about it.

I’d rather someone block me from the beginning if I’m not their “type”, then set up an appointment and upon meeting them, having the awkwardness of bad vibes and the “dark-side” of YMMV.

Always remember guys, in every aspect of life, the people who don’t like, want, or desire you aren’t the ones that matter, only your fans and admirers should get your thoughts and attention.

For the others, thank them for blocking you and tell them to get out the way ☺️??

Crazy as it sounds, you might be on to something! I’m still not registering but I’m seeing red flags on a masseurs blocking potential clients solely for looking at his profile multiple times. Christ, there are so many profiles that I’ve been viewing for years of masseurs that I would love to see but either cannot afford, don’t accept incalls or are just too far away. Always checking for updates, specials or perhaps I’ve got a few extra bucks to spend. This blocking thing is bizarre behavior to me, so all the best to stay away I guess.

WOW good thread...

I guess it would be technically very possible for a masseur to goto his site and see hey johnny browsed me 20x. I could argue this both ways. I disagree a masseur should block though. Hey some might be shy.

To the original poster, how do you know you were blocked. So you couldn't see their ad. Maybe they took it down?

Until kinda recently I didn't know on RM that they can see you (if they are gold members). You can prevent them from seeing you. Its a setting in your profile

On MF is there a similar feature?

I’m going to go further, and many people are going to disagree with this too. If a masseur has “preferences”, I think he should be able to clearly state them without getting grief for it.

So if he doesn’t like guys who are black, white, Latin, Indian, Asian, fat, skinny, muscular, young, old, middle aged, blonde, brunette, redhead, bald, tall, short, or any other characteristic, just put it out there. So if I don’t fit into his preferences, we won’t waste each other’s time with an inquiry. This would:

1.) eliminate those awkward “YMMV” moments, and

2.) decrease those stories where some masseur blocked, or ghosted a potential client.

Let’s be real here, if a customer reviewed a masseurs profile numerous times and that masseur thought he was hot, he wouldn’t block him, he’d send him a message, offering the most hottest massage ever

Well I presume if you can see it when you are NOT logged in and cannot see it when you are, you’re blocked, right? Am I missing something?

I would agree, but the original poster didn't make that clear. He just said "when I sign in". Nothing said about not signed in. I'm just saying...

At first I was going to disagree with you. But then I thought of that HUGE controversy with the gay couple getting married and the bakery wouldn't bake them a cake. My $.02 to the couple - goto another baker, this one clearly doesn't want your business. Give your money to someone who wants it, appreciates it and will earn it!!!

After I logged in (I'm a member), the screen says "Sorry, this profile is unavailable" or something to that affect. Someone here told me that means the masseur has blocked me.

the guys who block may be a bit sensitive and may need a reminder that it isn't always about them. It's kind of sad actually- especially given the cost. I can't imagine going into a store saying hi to the salesperson and then when I don't purchase I get banned from the store. " just look through the windows...."

We’re not talking about a retail store, puppy shop or patisserie, however.

If you are an escort and someone has viewed your profile 30+ times with not such much as a “hello, I really enjoy your photos” or “I hope to one day meet you” and you even take the initiative to say hello (as they may be shy) to no avail and yet they continue to view your profile like clockwork.....you’re just ringing the doorbell and running away at this point. You are blocked, period. This client is not serious about booking. He may be utilizing my profile to get off, awesome...his money, his prerogative. But I certainly am not paying for an ad just to get beat off to. I am paying for an ad to get booked, and if I feel someone is wasting my time, I will rightfully block that individual. And I always make the effort to at minimum engage before I do so. And I think that’s fair.

But I agree with some of the above sentiments that a provider blocking a potential client after two views is aggressive. A big part of our work is filtering out who is serious and who is not and some do it more aggressively than others.
