I “woofed” a dude on Scruff that had roses on his profile. I think we all know what that means. He messaged me trying to close the deal. I asked for a specific photo to prove he was legit and he delivered. But is that enough? Am I being too paranoid it could be some sting operation? Lol I guess I watch too much TV

Well he did prove to me already that it’s him. I asked him to take a selfie with a specific kitchen item and he fulfilled that request. I did ask for a video message but he declined and said he didn’t want to do that. I didn’t think of the Skype thing. Good idea

He quoted me a ridiculous rate and I politely declined. He asked what I would prefer to donate and I said an amount almost half of what he quoted. He still exuberantly accepted. Is that red flag? Haha.

Sounds inexperienced.

Those curious, inexperienced or cheap (unwilling to pay for an ad) will utilize the rose emoji on dating app platforms to test the waters. They usually have no idea what market prices are and take a stab in the dark with their rates to see who will bite, hence why he so exuberantly accepted your offer after quoting you a ridiculous rate. I’m not saying you couldn’t potentially have a good time but....he’s not an escort, he just needs money. The chances of it being a sting are slim to none. However, you do risk your account being swiftly banned. Move it to text.

Yes, once sufficient groundwork has been laid, move all communication away from the app, or you'll get banned and lose your contacts and any identifying info you had with this guy. Take it from someone who learned the hard way. Get a burner phone (or number) and ask "the dude" to continue the discussion away from prying eyes - for your sake and his.
