The next candidate for rehab made an appearance this week with Alec Baldwin's telephone tirade with his 11year old (or 12, Baldwin wasn't sure) daughter. Gee, these tinseltown folk are really nice, behind all the articial teeth and gelled hair. So glad I don't know any of them.

Seems this was the hot topic of every "news" show last night from CNN to Fox To E! It's funny some of these shows having "both sides" represented, and having to see poor jerks defend this guy. Alan Colmes was a scream (and I was, at the TV set) - he instantly attacked Kim Bassinger over and over and over and completetly ignored the tirade. "I'm going to straighten your ass out!.....you pig.....you spoiled pig..." to his daughter. Alan explained that we don't know Alec's side of the story, poor misunderstood dear, and "Team-Kim" is such a bitch for traumatizing her daughter by "releasing it". At least the world is safe from a future rumored Baldwin political career.

(Bassinger's divorce lawyer HAD to have opened the biggest bottle of champagne when he got the tape - and not the cheap stuff)

I can't imagine the Australian and British tabliod press not running with this, too, which makes me wonder - did the world know there was a custody battle going on here or even care? - well, it does now.

This is news? This is a family matter that should have been kept PRIVATE. I thought it was ridiculous for the media to be covering it. It's really none of our business. Alec's comments were harsh, but we don't know the series of events that may have led to his "meltdown". I'm sure there's more to the story, but who cares? Kim, Alec and their daughter Ireland should be working this amongst themselves, not in public.

Would you mind sharing with the class just ONE event that you feel would excuse screaming at an 11yo and repeatedly calling her a pig (and other things) just because she wouldn't pick up the phone?

Alec Baldwin is FAMOUS for being a total nutcase when it comes to his temper. The guy is deranged.

Refresh my memory, but didn't he say he would leave the country if Bush were elected? I guess we can add "liar" to his resumé.

Honestly yours,

I agree. It sounds like very poor control on Baldwin's part but it is private and NOT something that has any place in the media.

If I were him I'd be looking into the possibility of suing Bitch Bassinger for disclosing what is obviously a private tape.

Although, I do think they deserve each other.

Was that Alec? I thought it was Steven. With 7 of them, it's difficult to keep the brothers sorted out.

Whatever ... the whole family is a half bubble off level.

“Once again I’ve made an ass of myself getting to a phone to make a phone call … I’m tired of playing this game with you. You have insulted me for the last time …You’ve made feel like shit and you’ve made feel like a fool over and over again … I’m going to straighten your ass out … You are a rude, thoughtless little pig.”

When I heard these words out of Alec's mouth I had a flashback. This is how my dad would always talk to me. ;)

Now, on a serious note, each and every Baldwin (bloated or otherwise) is rude and overrated. Their acting skills are pedantic, their troubles with addictions are boring and their involvement with politics is haphazard and done with no thought or research.

Stupid family, stupid men ... but some of them had great asses.

"Backdraft".....directed by Ron Howard. Someday a well intentioned, SERIOUS graduate student will write a thesis "BACKSIDE: Images of male buttocks in the films of Ron Howard."

Or a term paper on the number of times Kevin Costner has mooned the lens.

Sorry for the digression, boys.

More to the point, and as redundant: I once knew a very nice, sincere, talented young man who had played high school football with Alec B. The young man said Alec was "an asshole." As I said, redundant by this point.

The Baldwin dad used to berate his young stallions, calling them "pussy." Nice Long Island rearing.

Any man that spoke to his daughter like that must have been bullied as a child ... especially by a bully father. Daddy Baldwin should be proud of his little man now.

Well, and his wife disobeyed a court gag order. Maybe a couple of days in the slammer will make her think twice about disobeying a court order again.

And man was she PISSED OFF when he was also seen with Twinkie! :o

Alec really needs to enroll in intensive and prolonged anger management therapy.

There was no reason to yell at his child like that. Most of his anger in that conversation was probably indirectly meant for Kim. They've been battling it out for years. She uses their daughter, Ireland, as a pawn in her war against Alec. Admittedly, she has made his life a living hell with court battles. Still, there is no excuse for his behavior. He should have just left a short message and said "Please call me back." The hell with whether or not it was a court-ordered call!

Alec, and most of his family are a mess. I try not to pay any attention to any of them, especially now that Stephen has become "born-again"!

Alec is famous within the entertainment industry for his temper and last year, Broadway actress, Jan Maxwell, left the off-Broadway production of "Entertaining Mr. Sloane' when she felt threatened by Alec's increasingly erractic and threatening behavior. He was screaming, cursing and punching walls backstage at the theater and seemingly over such mudane things as the air-conditioning!

One of these days,God-forbid, he's going to snap and someone will get hurt, then the NY Post will have a field day over his trial and his community service at the sanitation garage in Brooklyn with Naomi Campbell!

I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure how many of you are in custody battles but having grown up among them and witnessed first hand what the parent without sole custody has to go through. Kids, particularly adolescents, can be pretty cruel at that age to get back at the parent for something that might be pretty insignificant to rational people.

It's obvious that Alex cares for his daughter or else he wouldn't be making that phone call or have fought so hard to get it (and the phone line installed into the room for her). Which brings me to the next thing I'm addressing.

The news was pointing out the time line of the call and where Bassinger was in all of this. The phone line was in Ireland's room and the tape was released while Kim wasn't around to do so. Speculation is saying that the only person with "access" to it might have been the one to release it. Like I said, kids can be cruel and vindictive when they want to be.

As for Rosie ... god I'm loving her more and more every day with this stuff. She has gone from media PR dream boat with a small scandal to putting it all out there saying whatever comes to her mind.

My parents and I used to have terrible fights; I would actually egg them on to say really horrible things to me because I thought it was funny (is that surprising?). :p My father would call me a "goddam son-of-a-bitch" so I'd point at my mother and say "I know; don't remind me!" to which my mother would scream "Don't you dare open a mouth!" and then of course I would (open my mouth really wide).

At my high school reunion a few years ago, I was shocked when some of my childhood friends were saying that they always thought I was abused and that my father was a tyrant. Actually, my parents and I had a very close relationship when I was growing up; I could tell them anything and I felt like they were my closest friends. I only ever felt love from them, even when they would get angry and blow up. I knew that that was just their personality, being from Brooklyn, where people get loud. That could very well be the story with Alec Baldwin, and we shouldn't rush to judge when we don't know anything more than the contents of this phone message.

My dear Mr Munroe, just where do you think you are? :+
