From USA Tooday's "Pop Candy":

"Today, everyone is talking about the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.

But what about the folks who will be eligible in 2008?

Future Rock Hall takes a look, and the candidates are a mixed bag: Madonna, Sonic Youth, the Beastie Boys, Metallica, Sting, Tears for Fears, Culture Club, Janet Jackson, Dokken, Ice-T, Men at Work and Twisted Sister could all get nominated. In two years, The Smiths and Run DMC could make the cut."

I think my choices would be of course Madonna :+ Beastie Boys and Sting.

Hugs,

Greg

Sting is a shoe-in. Probably Janet Jackson and Culture Club too.

But aside from that, if you ever get a chance to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cincinnati in person, TAKE IT!!!!

I've been oblivious to pop music since about 1974, and I enjoyed a visit to the Hall immensely. I wish it hadn't been in fucking JANUARY with lake winds and lake-effect snow, but it's really a great place to visit!

Sorry kiddo. I just don't see the Hall voting against Boy George or the Jackson Family. They'll need someone who ISN'T a rapper. And I think Sting is a given.

Just my opinion.

But one of these days when you're in Chicago, do plan a side trip to Cinci. It's seriously worth the trip.

Yeah I agree Sting is a shoe win. Plus he is sexy too :p But the Beastie Boys are good at what they have done. I think for them it's more about the music then getting that next big hit. Might have to take that side trip to the Hall in July when I'm back out there for the 4th and my bday. What would be the easiest way to get to Cini? I'm thinking train.

Cinci is actually an international air hub so flights should be easy.

Train might work, but in that region you might have to go through Indianapolis, which would REALLY add time.

Dunno ... I never made the trip from Chicago.

The trip in July would be arriving the first and heading out on the 5th so far but that is just tentative. I don't mind trains really, it's a great way to see parts of the country that you might not see.

Of course you are right the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland which does has a lake effect of wind and cold and not in Cincinatti which does not. Easy to confuse though what with the Rocking Chair Hall of Fame being in Cincinatti right next to WKRP studios.

Mea culpa! Mea culpa!

I know exactly 2 things about Ohio: 1) I usually fly over it (although I've driven through it few a few times and got a GREAT blowjob at a rest stop there), and 2) I visited Cinci, Cleveland, Akron, Canton, and Toledo on a recent visit and they all looked the same.

Sorry!

If they are gonna put acts like Madonna, Culture Club and Janet Jackson into the Hall then they definately need to put DONNA SUMMER in too. She has won 5 Grammy's (including the first Best Female Rock Performance Grammy) had 3 consecutive Number 1 Double Albums(remember those!!) tons of Top Ten hits, and one of the best voices EVER recorded...

Those were just names being kicked around Tiny. But hmm I do love me a bit of Donna Summers. Madonna, Donna Summers and I say throw some sass in there add Koko Taylor and Ruth Brown for the next inductees!

Hugs,

Greg

P.S. For those of you who do not know Ruth Brown and Koko Taylor shame shame shame! :+
