I haven't been to a pro bodybuilding contest. I did attend a few high school contests when I was a teen.

The closest I came to attending a pro contest is when a bodybuilding friend (and escort) decided to try a fitness contest in New York last year. I just went to go watch him compete and to support, nothing sexual. He and most of the male contestants were looking so yummy. LOL! It was split into a few male categories, not just by weight class.

There were a few gay men and women in the audience for sure, but mostly I believe filled with straight people. :) My friend had a sponsor who was there as well. His sponsor also hired him for muscle worship. I didn't meet his sponsor though. It was such a small contest I don't think there were many male performers being hired.

Professional bbers and personal trainers usually aren't the same people. The pro-bbers I know have zero time for anything else, including a job like personal training.

My trainer is a pro BB. He comes back with new ways to hit the muscle groups. He gets a chance to hang out and swap tips. He said many are trainers. The more competitions you win the higher one can push their rates.

I’ve considered training to compete just to find out, truthfully. Whatever goes on in this scene isn’t something you’ll have access to by renting. I feel like it requires you to be in the gym and backstage with these boys.

I agree. One thing that is completely disconcerting about it is all these amazing looking, apparently straight men talking about one another, their good points, their weak points and you realize that they appreciate male beauty in a way not unlike gay men.

I love the environment. The first time I went to a bodybuilding contest, I found it all pretty strange. The second time I went, I made a silent declaration, "This is my tribe."
