Bought mine online last night. Won't have to forget, or wait in line, or get frustrated when the state's lottery website is slow like it was when the Powerball got huge.

 

Get ready for the media to go out and ask buyers what they will do if they win. My favorite was when a 30 something guy was asked, and he said "hookers and cocaine".

Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, worth some $345 million, and nobody won Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing, so it will be an official record, likely in excess of $900 million, when the next drawing is held Friday night. The jackpot has been growing since it was last won in July in California. The previous record was $656 million, shared by winners in 2012 in three states.

If I won, I’d get my lawyer to create a trust to receive the proceeds, since I’d hate my name to get out there. Can you imagine the harassment? I’d have to move to some remote place, like the Carpathian Mtns or the Rhodope Mtns in the Balkans!

I bought a ticket in July. I won $2 I used that to buy another ticket and again won $2 That has gone on until I went to check my latest ticket and I won $7 I threw in an extra $3 and bought $10 worth of tickets.

Actually, it would be considerably less than that. The current estimated lump sum pay out is $565.6 million. The net after Federal taxes would be approximately $356.2 million, even less if one is subject to state and local income taxes.
