RE: VERY odd ? Can You Get a Hernia From Too Much Viagra?

In most cases I wouldn't think you can get a hernia from Viagra. However, I believe I am probably be the exception. My woody is sooo big and heavy that I believe, over time, it would cause a hernia. :+

But not everyone is built like me. ;-)

You probably couldn't get a hernia, unless your dick was unusually large and heavy! ;-) You can have other very serious problems, though, from a prolonged erection (4 hours or more). The kind that, in layman's terms, could make your dick fall off. If you can't lose an erection within a normal time, go to an emergency room. It's not a joking matter.

You make a very good point! My previous post was rather flippant and made light of a serious issue. A prolonged erection is no laughing matter.

Many years ago, while in college, I worked in the emergency room. We had several patients come in that were using solid metal cock rings and couldn't get soft enough to remove them.

Blood from the erection started pooling in the penis and there was the very real possibility that their member would become gangrenous. This is very similar to what can happen with a prolonged erection due to Viagra.

Here’s a link that lists possible side-effects and precautions for people using Viagra.

I did not see any mention of hernia-related problems.

I did find an article warning of possible vision loss. “…It is found that 19% of people with vision disorders have used Viagra medicines.”

Also found an interesting article where Viagra is being given to new-born babies to treat chronic pulmonary hypertension.

Personally, I think ED drugs should be taken with great caution. I really question the wisdom of having them sold via the internet from a doctor you've never met.

I have to agree with you on buying such over the internet. Better to have a personal physician prescribe such drugs to be sure there will be no reactions with other medications. However, many people are not comfortable asking their doctor about such and resort to the internet.

From what I have read the vision issues tend to happen more in people with diabetes. Since the ED drugs all lower blood pressure they can cause heart attack or stroke as well.

I know of a DC doctor who took Viagra and had a metal cock ring on at the time. Needless to say he wound up in an ER having the cock ring cut off and dealing with the teasing of his colleagues for a long time.

Found several interesting sites related to priapism and four hour erections. Interestingly children with leukemia and people with Sickle Cell Anemia as well as trauma victims can wind up with the problem. Have not found anything about ED drugs and hernias though. Here are a few links:

Hernias usually or always result from internal pressure pushing out, from heavy lifting or even straining on the stool, which causes failure at the pre-existing weakness in the muscle wall.
