If you just walk in, you get whoever is available at that time, (sometimes they have an invisible “line”, that is: they assign the walk-in clients fairly, one after another to the masseurs waiting in the line for work, so that they all get at least some work) but if you book ahead on the phone, you can always ask for a specific masseur.

I adore Blessings. He gives a thorough massage (only wish is that he went a little deeper), nice aromatherapy opening, and a calm, loving vibe. I was dismayed to see a hateful review on his page. I guess one could read his New-Agey spirituality as “religious,” but he didn’t push it. He also is obviously gay and comfortable with it.

It's not my duty to figure out how they split the income.  I pay as a fair and satisfied customer:
not trained and no extras - 20 (you just wasted my time)
trained mediocre massage and no extras - 40 (just like any legit place)
trained excellent massage and no extras - 60 (you deserve a tip for being a good masseur)
trained massage and minimal extra (HE) - 60-80 (depending on massage experience)
rest is up to you, but should be commensurate with what you receive.

With all these variations on tipping protocol, I only feel sympathy for these young masseurs who go into every session with absolutely NO idea how either their technical skills or "extra" skills will be rewarded.  It's a total crap shoot for them.
And I'd venture to guess that for every great tip, there are 2 lousy ones every day.  It's gotta be difficult to stay energized or interested in that scene for very long and the turnover rates prove it.
If you're expecting quality from these spas, your generosity is the only way they'll flourish.

sorry to feed back late. I went to Alpha on the first day grand opening last week. great place, fancy design. the most comfortable massage table I tried. Alex delivered great massage, 100% satisfied, of course good tips. they said they has asian, black and latino. I can tell they paid more attention on service more than other spas. great experience, highly recommended.

Had my first session with Blessings yesterday. Better than his pics, great setting, superb massage, his own style with movements akin to Swedish and Californian. He conveys good vibes and positive energy, a great session, totally different from any other I've had. Highly recommendable.

I don't think the Alex who goes by the name of Blessings is the Alex who was at Utopia and Shangri-la. I remember Alex at those spas. A real hunk who got naked fast, and liked to play. He was from Venezuela. Blessings doesn't appear to be the same person. I note that Blessings gets a lot of money for his massages, and none of the reviewers use the word "erotic" to describe them. I think that's a bit odd, but none of my business.

And I would also love to know where Alex from the spas is now!

    You all made your point.
but I think the main reason why the operation happened was something else. Check the recent reviews of TMS on yelp. You may find that there was not enough management which brought the quality of service down. Therefore conflict between provider and receiver existed.
There are hundreds of small businesses which lack of this or that. But as long as they operate/manage well. Both Service providers and receivers benefit from the trade. Both satisfied. Then police will definitely stay away from them, chill for coffees. ?
TMS was good one. Still good now. The Issue is only about one staff there.

I don’t disagree, but in candor these places are pretty brazen about how they market themselves these days. I could make the same argument about a drug dealer. Probably not great harm in the grand scheme of things but what he’s doing is still against the law. If you run around creating Facebook pages and market what you’re doing, the cops kinda have to respond when a neighbor flags it.

Could have been a sting or it could have been a COVID case involving one masseur which would be cause to close the place down for one week to do a deep cleaning and sanitizing of the entire spa. They would not want to disclose this and scare people away but if this was the case, they would have had to contact every client who came in contact with that mssseur. If the particular masseur is still missing when the spa reopens, think about what I've said here. I'm just bringing this up because it happens at work in the office and this is how the situation is handled. Please do not take this as an offense against the spa in anyway. I am just throwing out a possibility in these still unfortunately active COVID times. Be safe guys.

Completely agree. Covid came to mind also, but coulda been other reasons too. Plus the NYPD has always been harsh if gay/gay friendly establishments. Glad it's reopening - it's one of my faves.

I can confirm it was a raid/sting based on my text conversation with one of the TSMS masseurs last night. He's a bit nervous, to say the least.

I'm sorry to hear that. It seems as if we hear of this re-occurring every now and then. Why aren't they in the subways watching for real criminals who are attacking people everyday?
