Touching German Couple WW2 - Probably a friend with a camera alone where they could be themselves. I have to remind myself that these men were drafted into military service just like other waring countries did with their men. Discovery or refusal would have meant death in the camps.

A sailor from H.M.S. Otter with his close friend, possible lover. This could have been taken in China, as HMS Otter was stationed there from1900 to 1916. The previous HMS Otter had been broken up in 1893, and the man on the left is wearing a collar that looks Edwardian.
