  1. OK, can we speculate as to what's gonna happen?

All of this in conjecture, as I'm only on book three (and unlikely to continue reading), and haven't read any of the fan pages. But here goes... (Conjecture spoiler alert):

Obviously Jon Snow is not dead. Or rather he is, but conveniently the red witch, who has a habit of resurrecting the dead, is nearby. Notice what his death accomplishes though. Think about his vow to the Night's Watch: "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death." So if he dies and comes back, oath taken care of.

Why the fixation on Jon Snow (who has had a really boring story line, IMO)? He's the crux of the story. He ain't Ned Stark's bastard son. He's Ned's nephew by the dead sister and the Targareyan she had a fling with. (Don't really remember this but I think it's in there.) Targareyans have a habit of marrying siblings. Daenerys Targaryen is widowed. Wedding bells. Oh, and she has three dragons she's slowly losing control of. Brandon's a worg (controls animals with his mind). Last we saw of him he was told he'd never walk but would fly. Done. Or one third done. Maybe the Imp rides another. He has that special saddle. The Imp is aligned with Daenerys. I say the four of them come together, probably with others, to rule the seven kingdoms, or maybe we unite both sides of the ocean as well.

Arrya is roaming around aimlessly, as is now Sansa. Sansa's wolf died in the place of Arrya's (King Robert needed a wolf to kill and took Sansa's when Arrya's bit Joeffry). I think that portends that Sansa is somehow going to die to save Arrya. Don't know how that figures in yet. But he haven't had a good Stark killing in a few seasons now.

Just some of where I see all this going.

  2. See his Youtube with Abel Rey (who's going to have my babies - he's just never heard of me.)

Ricky seems like he has a fun sense of humor.

Hey! That's my apartment. (Looks boring in that video. And the sound was fucked up.)

  3. Why can't people just take the movie for what it was... a fictionalized version of an actual event. Did Jack Dawes really exist on Titanic? No... James Cameron took an actual event in history and used it as a backdrop for a fictional story. That is basically the same thing that was done here. The events around the Stonewall Riots was used as a backdrop for the story of the farmboy from Indiana.

Sure, Emmerick could have been a little more accurate in his depiction of the events, but as we all know (or should know) fictional accounts are not usually the most accurate. If you want an accurate account, find and watch a documentary.

I watched the movie more as a view into gay life of the late 60's and found it entertaining.

Sure, but in that case I would prefer the movie to be titled something other than Stonewall (and Titanic for that matter). That tittle implies to me that the movie is going to attempt to more or less tell the story of the Stonewall riots, not simply a melodrama set against the riots as a backdrop.

  4. I am very lucky to live within three block of The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. And yes I do check the guys ever time I visit the Barnes Museum. Sometimes, I go there for lunch just for the eye candy!

The Barnes is simply delightful. Amazing collection that any other museum would kill for, great space now that it's moved downtown, and very doable in a short period of time.

  5. After a head spinning afternoon (OLED? I just learned about the existence of 4K for God's sake). It came down to the Vizio vs Samsung. A high end Vizio with a 240 refresh rate is about $800 to $1,200 less than the comparable Samsung. I need to read up a bit more, but Cnet raves about the Vizio M series, so I'm pretty much leaning that way.

Do you plan to stream video onto said tv? If so, be sure to check which apps come with which model. Samsung has most if not all available platforms, which I don't believe is the case with any other make.

  6. I've actually been looking at these, a 4K Ultra. The prices have dropped like crazy since last year. I'm not very tech savvy, when it mentions web browsing, does it mean it will play videos from any web site? That would solve the AMC issue for me.

Theoretically, yes. But searching the web on your tv is like cooking breakfast with a bic lighter. I suspect it would be better to connect your computer screen to the tv, browse on the pc and view on the tv.

  7. How soon after a show has aired on network TV or AMC does it show up on Hulu? I know on Netflix and Amazon Prime, it's well after the full season has ended.

AMC does not participate with Hulu.

There's a substantial delay between the season finale and availability on Netflix.

  8. I've checked into getting rid of cable also but haven't. . I think if you check out HD antennas or digital antennas, that would be a good start. When you do, you have to check..... and they show you how.... your distance from the broadcast signals and what broadcast channels you'll receive. It's very spotty in some areas.

I'm not a cord cutter as I never had the cord in the first place. I have a wonderful Samsung smart tv and a digital antenna. Though I literally never watch broadcast tv, it seemed smart to have one for the whopping $20 it costs. Someone once explained to me that you actually get a better picture via a digital antenna than by cable, because there's so much data being pushed through that one little cable versus the more moderate data being pushed via the larger path of the airwaves. When I flip though channels to test that theory, it seems plausible.

Your smart tv has the apps that you use to watch streamed content (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Acorn, HBO GO (most wonderfully), etc.), and Samsung seems to have the best selection of these apps. You could also go the Apple tv or Roku route, which is simply a box that acts as the brains and talks to a regular dumb tv.
