  1. The earliest one I can find was on Feb. 10, 2000 (that was still the 20th century).
  2. The question was about tourist sites within a state. The Liberty Bell is not an historically important artifact; the legends about it are not verified. It was first used in the 1830s by abolitionists as a promotional item for their cause, and later in the century as a promotional symbol for the city of Philadelphia. It is simply a metal object in a glass case on Independence Mall, hardly worth a visit for its own sake.
  3. I believe this is Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov
  4. Overrated: the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia Underrated: Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.
  5. Sort of like the frequent confusion in escort ads between "dominate" and "dominant."
  6. No one was allowed in without a mask, including on the outside patio dining, and we were asked to use hand sanitizer when we entered. Tables had been removed to allow more space between dining parties. Employees wore masks and gloves at all times. The menus were printed on paper and were used as placemats that were destroyed after use.
  7. I don't know how to find the posts I made here back in the 20th century.
  8. I hope his #Rape only means "Rape fantasy"
  9. I went to dinner in a restaurant for the first time last night, and even though it was a Thursday and the restaurants have been open for only two days, there were lines waiting to get in, and lots of Hollywood/Beverly Hills types. There were also some hunky servers.
  10. We have had the same personal physician for several years, and it was only a few months ago that he asked whether we had advanced directives. We did, but we had never given him the copies, and he had never asked for them before.
  11. Our nexdoor neighbors in Philly had moved to P-town a few years before we retired, so we learned a lot from them about living there, and we did consider it briefly, but for me the drawback was always the winters. I remembered what it was like visiting there in January, and it was not a fond memory.
  12. From the early 1960s, P-town was my gay resort of choice. In fact, that is where I met my spouse in 1968, and we used to go back regularly; however, we stopped going in the 1980s, and the last time we were there was twelve years ago. We didn't come to Palm Springs until 2004, and have lived here since then. P-town was where I had lots of sex and gay fun when I was young and there weren't many places where one could be openly gay. Palm Springs is where I live in an "active adult" community, shop, play tennis, and no one I encounter thinks it unusual that my spouse is a man. So it is hard for me to compare them, since my familiarity with them occurred at different times in their history and my own. For me now, the only important difference is the climate: I remember P-town as grim in winter, but much nicer than Palm Springs in the summer.
  13. Restaurants re-opened for limited indoor dining yesterday, and the PS Art Museum re-opens April 1st. The aerial tram is running again, but one needs a reservation, and a friend told me yesterday that she couldn't get a reservation earlier than the end of this month, so you may want to try to get one now for that weekend.
  14. That's what Cash4Trash and others said when I explained why I couldn't stay for dinner. ?
  15. Any facial tattoo is a turn-off for me, but a crude one is the worst.
  16. I remember taking my best friend's sister on a movie date to see Victim in 1961. It was definitely an eye-opener for her.
  17. OMG! Was that the party at Sofia's? I WAS THERE! It was the first time I met any of the Hooboy crowd, but I was present only at the beginning, because I had an appointment with Jason Markus and had to leave after the appetizers. Talk about ships that pass in the night....
  18. Strange that the height/weight numbers on "About me" and "escort info" are not exactly the same, although he does look heavier in some photos than in others. One text may be older than the other.
  19. Agh! I forgot about the Spanish connection!
  20. Nice thread!

    Vintage men

Damn! I thought I had destroyed all the copies of that photo!
  22. Of course, he did not leap over the net: he held it down and stepped over it. He was a middle-aged man and not foolish enough to try to leap over and possibly fall on his face. At its lowest point (in the middle), a tennis net is 3 feet high, so only a very tall player is likely to have long enough legs to step over it without pushing it down, and most nets are too tightly strung to push down easily.
  23. But you don't have a spouse who cuts out the crossword to do every day.
  24. My father brought the New York Daily News home after work every day, so from the time I could read it and understand the stories, I would at least glance at the front page. (I remember the photo of Truman on the front page the day after the 1948 election.) But I didn't become a regular reader till I moved to Philadelphia when I was 21 and started reading the Inquirer and the Bulletin. From then on I always preferred to read the local paper wherever I lived rather than watch TV news. In Palm Springs I have The Desert Sun and the LA Times delivered every morning, and always read them. I figure that if there is anything interesting in one of the national papers, like the NYT or WaPo, someone on this site will point me to it.
  25. There is only room to pick up one of them in that MG.
