@Enronnja, when I first started hiring, I was stupid. I trusted an escort before we met. Paid him a lot of money up front and wrote a review on RM before meeting. I’ve since learned, of course. But the point is that the scams are real. And they’re more common than many want to accept. That’s why I still come back to insisting that a minimal exchange of some substance happen between me and any escort. If he thinks it’s time wasting, he’s losing out on my money. Maybe he can get other money easier, but it’s not going to be mine. Just like escorts will hedge bets to not waste their time, I’m heading bets to not waste my money. I was burnt once and it’s not happening to me again.

RM’s review format is lame. 4 questions including ambience (who cares?). I want to see actual reviews - guys describing their experience with the escort. I’ve written a few reviews on RM, which I guess goes to someone to approve but they’ve never been posted. Not sure why because my reviews are pretty tame. 

While I don't mistrust reviews, I don't think the absence of reviews is a red flag. There's a host of reasons why clients don't post reviews that are unrelated to the provider, including discretion, lack of awareness, and simply not wanting to expend the effort. Likewise, a lack of discussion here isn't a red flag to me. While the membership base is large, it is a small proportion of the client population as a whole.

@crazyivan thanks for replying. People often have preferences around condoms and lube. Make sure whatever you bring is what the escort likes. Even if the escort says they'll bring supplies, you should have some too. You don't want to be about to fuck and suddenly discover no condoms or lube. Regarding condoms, know your risks and make your choices. Oral without condoms is risky because of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Infected men are often asymptomatic, especially if they have a throat or rectal colony which won't show up in blood or urine STI tests. Only swabs will discover them.
 
@former lurker offers great advice above. I strongly prefer meeting in public for an initial meeting, but that's because my first time was not a good experience and he'd been well reviewed. Only you know what you're comfortable with and how you want to handle things. Since you're meeting at a hotel, does the room have a safe?
