What I've seen were just announcements I guess then but they tell all the close relatives names without much bio. Even the ones from the funeral homes are short. I know this is peculiar, but years ago many people turned to and read obits immediately when they got the paper. Never understood that.

Wow-no idea. The family ones I've seen lately are done by the funeral home. I thought all obits were free. So disturbing. So sad.

Not many people read paper papers but more than ever do online, including orbits. If it's published online it's easy to forward it to others as needed, put it on family Facebook etc. It's also an element of closure which is important.

I think a normal 1-hr outcall takes 2 hours of a provider's time while a 1-hour in call takes 1 hour. Since Uber it's not really asking for the fare per se, it's asking for the ride to you and back. I doubt many guys anymore care to deal with driving, getting directions, parking, or public transportation. It's a wasteful PITA compared to the client sending you a quick ride from your door to his. It also assures the provider that you're for real and this isn't one of those cruel jokes pretend-clients do. You don't explain to the provider how to get to you, you just give Uber your location on the app and his pickup address. Takes seconds. It's $10 well-spent by the client in making the provider happy and getting him to you on time.

you're not alone. it just seems that way. you have plenty of people connections probably and to make new ones it just takes one word...."hello" and it is amazing how physical wellness, exercise, etc produces natural highs and keeps depression away.

My former neighbor also had the same jet lag problems headed east as I do. For both of us a trip from the far east to DC, even with a layover, meant a week of horrible jet lag. Heading to the far east, no problem at all.

You may know my answer: If you travel constantly westward, ie returning from the Pacific via Europe, is the final jetlag as bad? I avoid the Pacific because of the horrendous time adjustment it causes me when I get home to DC. I never have that problem when traveling west however, and I wonder if stopping off in Europe for even a short time might make the home adjustment easier. Logically a time difference is a time difference but I never get serious jet lag headed west.

I don't even return to Sydney because it's 13 hours from CA or HI. I did it once while young in steerage on a crowded flight and would never again except for Biz class. Not sure I'd even do Biz class for 19 hours. Together with the horrible jet lag for a week with a 12 hour difference, ....no way.

9 times out of 10 it's Uber fare and does not come out of the hour. Best is to arrange an Uber for him to you and one back. That way you get the charge and he gets rides. It also provides more safety since you have a record of his address on your Uber. Much less chance of danger.

It's not unknown in NY and creeps into DC a lot. My #1 uses it some and I tried it a couple times. Just got incredible cotton mouth and no high.
