There’s another option to maintain anonymity. One could draw up a new trust to receive the winnings. I live in two of them. Many states don't allow lottery winners to remain anoymous if they win. They are California, Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin, plus Washington, D.C. However, according to World Population Review, some of those states allow lottery winners to establish a trust or LLC to claim their winnings anonymously. They are Connecticut, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Washington.

Thank goodness I live in two states with no personal income or capital gains taxes!
