You guys with your ”sandwich” comments! ?

I did a Costco trip Monday morning. No tp. People were loading up on bottled water and paper towels, while I loaded up on frozen vegetables, steaks and ground beef. Also protein bars and drinks, and ibuprofen and bottles of Clorox, for which there were no buying limits. Why water? This won’t affect the water supply. also, I noticed that Whole Foods and other higher-end natural markets still have hand sanitizer and tp. They don’t attract the panicky tp hoarders.

I asked one of my regulars if he’d like an N95 respirator and he was very grateful. At a local spot yesterday an array of friends and acquaintances got together, mainly younger. We all elbow bumped. I’m not sure I’ll be going out much in the next few weeks, though. I’ve got a pile of unread books to wade through.

I have plenty of Lysol wipes, not Clorox. I do have a large supply of Clorox bleach, so I can use my old supply of white 24-Hour Fitness towels to wipe stuff down.

Just checked the Hacienda at Warm Springs and they want $469/night for a junior suite. Let’s see what that rate is in two weeks. Of course, domestic travel may be suspended by then :/

When the gathering was originally announced, I had expected to be in Portugal with friends; however, I dillydallyed and never bought the ticket. Now, I’m hoping the PS gathering does occur and I can snag a last-minute airfare and accommodations deal. Watchfully waiting.

If this continues to cascade out of control, should we be worried that the elections will be postponed? I know it’s unthinkable now, but would Trump place the country under martial law? I’m just speculating on all possibilities. The military is probably the most trusted institution in the country right now.

In times of panic, people are accepting of a firm hand.

I’m glad I haven’t booked my late August travel yet. I imagine, if it’s possible to travel then, that I should be able to get a pretty good biz class fare.

I had to restock batteries at the local hardware store. While I was there, I picked up a box of 10 3M N95 respirators for $20. When I checked on Amazon later, the same box was selling for almost $400! I know they’re of limited effectiveness, but that should give you an idea of the panic.

Also stocks that consistently pay dividends help to cushion the losses.

I don’t recall a big downturn in 2008, at least in SoCal. However, the Coronvirus has certainly diminished my appetite for the hobby.
