I use the “silence unknown caller” on my iPhone. 90% of voicemail is from car warranty scammers. Immediately deleted. Although the vast amount of communication is by SMS or WhatsApp, I do have real conversations with family and close friends, many of whom are Millennials. With first-time providers, texts followed up by a call, which most appreciate. I don’t leave explicit information in texts.

Verizon is also $10 per day when you use it. Just go online and click the countries you’ll be visiting. As others said, use WhatsApp and your hotel or Airbnb’s Wi-Fi as much as possible. Other apps like AllTrails are free to use and don’t gobble up data as Google Maps does. Just download the areas you’ll be visiting in advance. Mexico and Canada are included in my basic plan.

In January 2020 I was in Port Townsend and saw this gorgeous young blond guy being photographed in a photo shoot. I saw him at a few places but the coup was seeing him at a public soak house where I had booked a private one hour soak. He had gone into the public sauna/soak area, so I didn’t get to see him nude. After my soak, sitting on a bench and putting on my shoes, I grabbed one of his socks and inhaled, but quickly put it back in his shoes. He appeared a few minutes later and we had a nice chat about his study abroad in Austria. Talk about a searing memory.
