It’s been over 40 years, so I can’t remember the exact path to Chappy from the harbor.

In my early 20’s, I used to join a close college friend on sailing trips to MV, Nantucket and other points in New England. We always sailed into Edgartown and rented a mooring from the Edgartown YC. They had a launch that would pick you up and take you to the dock. From there you could walk to Chappy across the infamous little bridge. This was in the early 80’s, so it was still an old money town without all the nouveaux-riches with oligarch yachts, etc. It was magical. Cute college kids worked at the long-closed seafood restaurant. I went three years in a row, the first two by sailboat. One September we had to ride out a hurricane attached to a mooring. It wasn’t as bad as it sounds, but heading to Wood’s Hole the next day we were buffeted by huge swells and it was rough going. I’d love to return after 40 years and see how much it’s changed.

My domestic US flights so far this year have all arrived on time or early, including a last-minute change on American from Cabo. That said, I’ll be spending a month in Portugal starting Sept 14 and changing at LHR. At least I’ll be in business and doing carry-on. I mix hotels and Airbnb so that I have access to a washer. I’ll report on the experience.

I spent a month in the Balkans in summer 2018. Belgrade is a fine city with some great looking men. I also visited Montenegro beaches. Hooked up with a super cute server there. Still stay in touch. Bosnia-Hercegovina is green and cool, and Sarajevo is fascinating. I really loved Bulgaria. The men are pretty rough-looking, but the food was superb. Sofia and Plovdiv have extensive Roman ruins dating from the time that Thrace was an imperial province. Best tomatoes I’ve ever eaten. Finally, Romania was most interesting. Bucharest has a resemblance to Paris, and Brasov in Transylvania is well worth a visit. It was settled by Saxons and the Hungarian Szeklers. Mountain biking in the Carpathians was challenging!

I spent 6 weeks in Salzburg cycling and studying German. I never ventured into the Dark Eagle. Glad you tried it out.

After some introductory messages on RM, when I’ve decided to meet, I politely suggest we have a call since hearing one another’s voices always is a prudent move before the meet. 100% of providers have agreed to this. I do use a burner app, however. My real number is reserved for a select few.

I always joke about household staples after a trip to Costco.
