I was impressed that at my local VONS supermarket (a part of Safeway I think) they had a plexiglass panel bolted between the cashier and where the customer stands to swipe their card. The cashier wasn't enclosed or anything but the panel created a bit of barrier between them and the customer.

I think it's been over two years since we've seen prices under $3.00 per gallon here in Southern California. The lowest I've seen this week is 2.79.
