I was asking based on my own habit of giving a tip. I wanted to understand what a good tip is in relation to an hourly rate based on my specification. The great thing about the forum is that no one is usually overly judgemental of others based on the responses. I think you may have looked deeper into my request for information then the meaning. The response was provided to help me understand and not a reflection of anyone's expectations. I feel that tips are a way to show added appreciation for service in the moment. I give pretty good tips to my wait staff and limo guy as well. I am a person that likes to show appreciation in real time in order to get my feeling across at that point in time. I feel apreciation is an all year event not just for special occations. Being somewhat new client, I was curious to what good is just as good for most wait staff is 20% or more.
