Educated consumers do not spread rumors and stoke fears of panic with unfounded speculation.
Now, let's get back on subject and feel free to share your recommendations of the "other places [you] prefer."

And my comments are not directed at whoever reported on their closing. This is about your doom and gloom attitude -
"More will follow.  Seems like top men also is under surveillance." Even though you later admitted that you had no reason to say why them specifically... 🙄
    "Yes he’s likely locked up."
    "Until they get busted again"
You are bringing nothing of value to the conversation.
That's great. How about concentrating on those places and stop berating one or two spas for "allegedly" doing the same activities that most likely happen in your favorite spots too. Let's not pretend you're going to any morally righteous places, hmmm?

No, I don't know why they were shut down. Do you know or are you just making assumptions and stirring the pot? Do you also remember when Hero Spa on W 50th was closed ("busted" as you like to say)? Did other spas get shut down then too? I don't believe so. I'd say you were being a "Debbie Downer" but at least she was funny. There's no need for the doom and gloom.

That’s funny… one of massage spots that I mentioned getting run off my block was “Evening Dew Spa”. They had masseurs and masseuses.
Wonder if it’s the same owner?

No pretending needed! People are sanctimonious assholes. Up until a few months ago, I had lived on a snotty East Village block for 18 years. A massage spot opened in the building next to me, another 5 doors down. There was no noticeable nefarious activities, the fronts were in no way an eye sore and both closed by 10pm. Some of my neighbors had a mission to get these business off the block and openly bragged about calling the police. They succeeded.

I am just baffled - and it should be a much bigger outrage as our tax money (at a time when there is little surplus of it) is being used - that the time and energy and money it takes to shut down spas, because god forbid a bunch of queens get relaxed AND get a hand job, is somehow a priority not only for the NYPD but for the city and its resources.  There are people being kicked out of their homes because their careers were completely destroyed by a pandemic. There are victims of domestic violence who’ve been forced to stay home with said violence for the better part of two years now. There are addicts who were sober but lost all access to their therapist and other addiction treatments who are walking a daily tightrope to maintain their sobriety (many have fallen off, and understandably as they’ve been all but forgotten). HOW and WHY is it ACCEPTABLE in ANY priority list to shut down a fucking spa?!   It is just inane and offensive and completely inhumane. And quite honestly, it’s the kind of thing that the gay community should care about now that it seems to have nothing uniting it anymore.  Where are the leaders, now that everyone takes PreP and we can marry a dude???  What happened to them??  Were the causes that self-focused?  The entire thing being only discussed on this random website on page 172 of one thread shows a gay community in repose, and a repose that is unflattering and privileged in the worst way.  And it is this type of repose that will be noticed by those who seek to take hard-fought rights away as soon as they get the chance. (Though, we’ve all allowed taking rights away to be put on the fast track as we’ve rolled over to every piece of “guidance” the last two years, even when it makes little to no sense).
Most of these guys who work at these spas have very few other legal options - would they prefer these men sell meth? Many are sending money to their family in whatever country they’ve come from, and now it will be more difficult. The fact that ANY person paid by the public spends even TEN MINUTES pursuing these businesses should outrage ALL of us.
Moderators' Reminder:  No politics in the Spa.

What!!?!?   I was just there last week (on the very day you posted this), and tried out Javier for the first time (new, but pretty good masseur—super cute latin guy with a boxer’s build).   27 has definitely been a top favorite of mine, as I’d book at least twice a month.
Ugh. These raids and closures really bug me. don’t these cops have bigger fish to fry?   So upsetting.

If you don't know, please don't stoke the fires of panic by making guesses about "who's next". It doesn't do anyone any good.

It's like Stonewall all over again. WTF! Serious BS. Zero people are getting harmed by men's spas. Of all the things going on in the world and this is what police resources are devoted to...  boggles the mind. 👿

I wonder if The One was targeted because they’re at street level with such a big presence. A lot of new places around them like Seamore’s. Most of the other male-only spas are on side streets or the second/third floor and a little more discreet. I could see nearby businesses wanting to chase them out.

I don’t disagree that $12 or $10 is way low BUT... I’m also not in the camp of 100% tips. To each their own.

These guys could work at a Chinatown restaurant and make $10 an hour or they could do massage - the guys I’ve talked to say they would pick spa all day long. So they make the $20 fee and another $20-50 or more tip. That works out to $40-70 per hour. I understand they often can’t go back to back but the amount they make in a day (for being unlicensed, no professional training - is not a bad living. It’s not unheard of to make $300-500 in a day of work. 5 days a week let’s call it $2,000 in a week. $8,000 a month (tax free).
