  1. With a 35 point performance on 16-of-16 shooting, Giannis Antetokounmpo has won the NBA All-Star Game MVP. He achieved that stat line in just over 19 minutes played. Included in that stat line were three 3-pointers. At 26 years old, he has now achieved: 5x All-Star 4x All-NBA 3x All-Defense 2x MVP 1x DPOY 1x All-Star MVP He also joined some quite exclusive company: Giannis Antetokounmpo of the @Bucks joins Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history to go 16-for-16 or better from the field in any game (regular season, postseason or All-Star). Wilt accomplished the feat twice in the regular season in 1966-67 (18-for-18 & 16-for-16).
  2. A woman driving on a Florida interstate swerved to dodge a couch that fell off a truck, and received a $166 ticket from state troopers while lying on a hospital bed after crashing. Jake Singer and his girlfriend, who asked not to be identified, were driving home to Washington, D.C., on Feb. 20 after visiting family in Boca Raton, they told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. They made it about 90 miles north on I-95 when a couch fell out of a truck directly in front of them. Singer’s girlfriend swerved to avoid the couch, and the couple’s car slammed into a median, according to the Sun-Sentinel. It flipped over, but Singer and his girlfriend escaped without serious injuries. “People were hugging us and freaking out,” Singer told the Sun-Sentinel. “The fact we were standing there, nobody could believe it, including us.” No other vehicles were involved, and the truck carrying the couch continued driving as if nothing happened. The couple were both rushed to a hospital, but they soon had an uninvited guest: a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Trooper Eric Flint handed them a $166 ticket for “failing to drive in a single lane.” “He gave us a ticket for basically swerving lanes while trying to avoid a couch that was flying at us on the highway,” Singer told the paper. “We got so pissed.” But a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said the couple should’ve been further behind the truck to give themselves time to safely drive around any flying couches. “You have to look at the totality of the circumstances,” trooper Yanko Reyes told the Sun-Sentinel. “Remember, in Florida it is recommended to have at least a two-vehicle length between your vehicle and the vehicles in front of you because that way you have enough time to react in case something like this happens.”

  15. Police obtained a search warrant to retrieve the “black box” from the luxury SUV in which Tiger Woods crashed — because a judge reportedly believed there was probable cause a crime may have been committed. Law enforcement said the possible offense committed by the badly injured links legend is misdemeanor reckless driving, TMZ reported. The search warrant – which doesn’t include the words “reckless driving” – prepared by the LA County Sheriff’s Department addressed probable cause, including the lack of skid marks, the objects struck by the vehicle, its extensive damage and apparent excessive speed, according to the outlet. No specific crime was listed on the warrant, but the outlet noted that a judge can’t sign a search warrant unless there’s probable cause a crime had been committed, sources told TMZ. One of two things may have led to the issuance of the warrant – a member of law enforcement discussed possible reckless driving with the judge or the judge alone determined the probable cause, according to the outlet, citing its sources. The warrant said there was no evidence Tiger was driving impaired, TMZ reported. Sheriff’s Deputy John Schloegl also has said investigators are trying to determine if a crime had been committed. “If somebody is involved in a traffic collision, we’ve got to reconstruct the traffic collision. If there was any reckless driving, if somebody was on their cell phone or something like that. If there was no crime, we close out the case, and it was a regular traffic collision,” he told USA Today. Woods was driving a 2021 Genesis GV80 alone when he veered across the median on Hawthorne Boulevard in Rancho Palos Verdes, went off the road and struck a tree. The legendary golfer broke several bones in his lower right leg and is still recovering in the hospital. A forensic car expert had told USA Today that it appeared Woods was not paying attention in the moments before the devastating crash.
