Being attracted to someone who isn't all that attractive
samhexum replied to samhexum's topic in The Lounge
BTW, I have an official Stopnshop shirt... years ago I had a day's work doing surveys in a store and when I was in the break room they had a box of them in the corner so I took one. his name IS Justin. -
When Rob Reiner was killed I mentioned that I found him somewhat attractive as Mike Stivic. This happens to me every once in a while… I find a random man fairly attractive whom I wouldn't say is particularly attractive. For about a year, Stop & Shop has had a character in their commercials named Justin (I believe) who is a stock boy. Around the holidays they had a commercial where a customer was singing Christmas carols and he joined in and I noticed that he had a nice singing voice. After that, I began to notice that he had a nice speaking voice. And the latest commercial has a couple standing in front of the ice cream section debating whether to get Stop & Shop or the name brand and Justin hears them from fairly far away and races over to tell them that Stop & Shop brands have the same quality as name brands so they decide to buy Stop & Shop and as they walk away, Justin is stretching his back and panting and saying I've gotta work on my cardio and for some reason that made me chuckle the first couple of times I saw it, and I suddenly am not minding Stop & Shop ads quite as much.

NBA superstar Victor Wembanyama is a handsome, thoughtful, poetry-reading 22 year old 7'5" Frenchman with a soft accent. He can make a soufflé rise without an oven. I AM POSTING THIS FOR LUSTFUL, NOT POLITICAL PURPOSES. IF IT'S UNACCEPTABLE PLEASE JUST DELETE IT AND DON'T PENALIZE ME. thanks

If I hadn't inherited the apartment I moved into when I was six months old when my mother died I'd be homeless and my second home would be a second cardboard box.

HBO has released a trailer for the limited series "DTF St. Louis," starring Jason Bateman and "Stranger Things" alum David Harbour and premiering Sunday, March 1 at 9 pm, with episodes also streaming on HBO Max. In the trailer — which you can watch above — Bateman and Harbour play Clark and Floyd, a pair of bored suburban dads who stumble upon a hookup app called DTF St. Louis that promises to "spice up your life." (And if you're as innocent as Floyd is, "DTF" stands for "Down To F**k.") The dads are amazed by the tantalizing options the app offers — Floyd's screen name is "Rock Solid," he explains, "because I feel like I'm a pretty dependable person" — but Clark might already have his eyes on Floyd's wife, played by Linda Cardellini. Things quickly go south, though... which leads to a dead body. "No one's normal," an eyeliner-sporting Peter Sarsgaard declares. "It just looks that way from across the street." The seven-episode series, billed as "a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise that leads to one of them ending up dead," is written and directed by showrunner Steven Conrad ("Patriot"). The cast also includes Richard Jenkins ("Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story"), Joy Sunday ("Wednesday"), Arlan Ruf, and Chris Perfetti ("Abbott Elementary").

With Americans paying higher prices for everything from groceries to car insurance, savings are dwindling, credit card debt is mounting and household budgets are stretched thin. And so are their options to do something about it. Job insecurity and anxiety have spread with the hiring slowdown and waves of layoffs. Many workers are keeping the job they have rather than hunting for a new one, even if that means it's harder to negotiate better pay. Only 1 in 5 workers say their pay increased more than inflation over the past year. One in 3 say their pay kept pace with higher living expenses. “The American paycheck isn't keeping up with American life,” Eva Chan, career expert at Resume Genius, which makes resume builder software, said in a statement. More than half of workers have less than three months of living expenses saved up in the case of a layoff. Nearly a third only have enough to last one month and almost a quarter could hold out one to two months. The USA TODAY/SurveyMonkey Workforce Survey also found: 42% of workers say their current savings can cover three months or more of living expenses 16% have three to five months worth of living expenses saved up 12% have six to 12 months saved up 14% have more than 12 months saved up Social media is rife with tearful videos of how hard it has become to make ends meet. Some 14% of workers can’t or struggle to pay their bills each month, PwC found. Another 42% pay their bills with little or nothing left over for savings. PwC says that’s more than half of the workforce experiencing financial strain in 2025. “I have to work 40 hours a week just so I can have a place to live,” one woman said in one Instagram post. “Forty hours a week makes me $2000 a month and my rent is $1,660. So I work 40 hours a week so I can have a two-bedroom apartment and an extra $300 a month. Like, that doesn’t even cover my phone, internet, food.”

Hot New (Gay) Hockey Series on CRAVE: Heated Rivalry

Ticketing giant StubHub says it received a surge in interest for Saturday night’s game, six times higher than average. The show, “Heated Rivalry,” on Crave and HBO Max, primarily focuses on a romance between two male hockey players who play for rival Montreal- and Boston-based teams. StubHub says the surge is 35 percent higher than in a typical matchup between the two teams. Finally, 82 percent of those who have purchased tickets are first-time buyers, three times more than usual. The growing interest hasn’t been limited to Canadiens and Bruins games. NHL single-game ticket sales on StubHub are up 82 percent compared to last season. The ticketing company also says it has seen a 40 percent increase in general interest for NHL tickets and a 75 percent surge in NHL ticket searches, as well as a 5 percent increase in first-time NHL ticket buyers since the show first aired on Nov. 28, 2025. -
