McDonald’s has made a major overhaul on how it’ll be cooking burgers, prized Big Macs included, to improve upon a years-long shortcoming the company says made for unhappy meals, the Wall Street Journal reports. In tandem with a spring ad campaign promising the fast food titan’s “best burgers ever,” the new initiative seeks to McMake the bunned delights much more juicy — with over 50 modifications. “We can do it quick, fast and safe, but it doesn’t necessarily taste great. So, we want to incorporate quality into where we’re at,” Chris Young, McDonald’s senior director of global menu strategy, told the Journal. Six patties will be grilled at a time instead of eight for the auto-cooking mechanism to apply less pressure and retain more burger patty juices Big Macs will get more sauce Buttery brioche buns will be used and sliced with a thicker bottom to retain heat Sesame seeds will be more randomly scattered on buns to give a homier look Cheese will be taken out of refrigerators sooner so it melts more during cooking Onions will be rehydrated after purchase for more juiciness Lettuce and pickles will be stored in smaller containers so they must be refreshed more often The test kitchen at the McDonald’s Chicago headquarters served as the proverbial Los Alamos, where chef Chad Schafer had been tinkering with a new methodology for burger flipping. As part of a seven-year quest, he made a double cheeseburger in its standard way and then tried a new style. “One is hotter…It looks meltier. Look at how my fingers sink into the bun. Smell it and you smell a big difference,” Schafer said of the revamped burger. “This one, it’s kind of dry. It cracks…And this is the best-case example at headquarters,” he added of the cheeseburger in place now. The new version was tested in Australia and is being rolled out at the chain’s 13,460 US locations, starting with the West Coast and Midwest. The plan is to have all US stores ketchup by early 2024.

Grocery Surprises, What's Got Your Goat With High Price?

I hope goat meat's cheap, because I just read that beef is now 10 cents a pound more than during the pandemic, and will likely stay high for a couple of years due to a combination of problems within the industry. -

A veteran Ohio criminal defense attorney has been suspended for pooping in a Pringles can that he then dumped outside a victim advocacy center — admitting he regularly pulled such stinky stunts to “blow off steam.” Jack Blakeslee’s stomach-churning habit emerged as he was suspended from practicing law for a year, with six months stayed, in a 13-page state Supreme Court opinion shared by Court News Ohio. The ruling revealed that the attorney — who has been practicing for nearly 50 years — was caught on surveillance footage while in the middle of a trial representing an accused child murderer facing the death penalty. Before heading to a November 2021 hearing, Blakeslee “deposited his feces into an empty Pringles can” — then “drove approximately 20 minutes from his home … with the open can of feces,” the ruling said. The Vietnam vet then drove to Haven of Hope, where a victim advocate representing the family of the slain child in his then-current case worked, the ruling said. “Surveillance video showed him driving slowly past the parking lot” at least twice — before he “threw the Pringles can containing his feces into the lot,” the ruling stated. The advocate in his case also saw him and later reported him to police. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct and littering, paying $248 in fines and court costs. “During his disciplinary hearing, Blakeslee testified that he had engaged in similar misconduct on at least 10 other occasions that year,” the ruling stated. He denied targeting the victim advocate, claiming that “he randomly chose the locations where he deposited the Pringles cans containing his feces.” He tried to dismiss it as a “prank,” saying he “got a kick out of” imagining the “look of surprise” on people’s faces when they found one of his Pringles cans. “It was kind of like a release” that helped him “blow off steam,” the ruling quoted him as saying. Still, the court found clear evidence that Blakeslee deliberately chose the parking lot of the advocacy organization as his “drop zone.” The court wrote in its opinion that Blakeslee intentionally targeted the victim advocates “to seek an even greater thrill by pulling his prank on someone he knew … just minutes before he would see one of them in court.” The panel found his “conduct adversely reflects on his fitness to practice law.” Blakeslee had failed to explain why he pooped in the cans, ruling out PTSD and only telling his hearing that “There has to be something going on that’s related to some of the things I went through in early life.” He was obviously traumatized by Mr. Potato Head.

This Brooklyn Street Artist is Making Dumpsters Whimsical Clinton Hill street artist Tom Bob turns ordinary street objects like poles, pipes and dumpsters into imaginative artworks that interact with their surroundings. Brianna Robles https://www.bkreader.com/arts-entertainment/tombobnyc-7891862 Tom Bob creation of Spike Lee's famous "love ring" in Bed-Stuy. If you're strolling in Brooklyn and you pass by a rock painted to look like a slice of cheese crushing Mickey Mouse in DUMBO, or a dumpster that has been turned into Spike Lee's "love" ring in Bed-Stuy, then you have spotted one of street artist Tom Bob's many whimsical creations. Since 2012, the Brooklynite has been catching people's eyes as they go about their lives by turning ordinary street objects like poles, pipes and dumpsters into imaginative artworks that interact with their surroundings. All of his public artworks have a childlike feel but are incredibly sophisticated in how they are presented. And the internet is obsessed with Bob's art. An article about his work went viral in 2017, and since then, he has gained 253,000 followers on Instagram and created more than 500 public artworks across Brooklyn and the world in his unique signature style. Some of his popular local creations include a stone turned into a rabbit and carrot in Williamsburg, a pipe turned into an anteater in Bushwick and a water pipe turned into a worm in an apple. "A lot of times it's like when I see a piece, sometimes it tells me what to paint it, and the idea just comes right away," said Bob, talking about the objects on the street. "And other times, I know it's a beautiful piece or an object, and I have to kind of figure out what I am going to incorporate into that." Since childhood, Bob had dreams of moving to New York City from his Dartmouth, Massachusetts hometown. He aspired to live in the same city as his personal heroes, Jean-Michele Basquiat and Andy Warhol. While many artists in the 1980s settled in the East Village, Bob decided he would make Brooklyn his home, which is where he fell in love with graffiti. Now, he lives in Clinton Hill. After visiting Art Basel, an art festival in Miami, he finally decided it was time to create his own art. But Bob doesn't consider himself a graffiti artist; in fact, he said his background in graphic design and illustration helped him create a lane of his own. "When you're younger, you only have dreams, and you have a focus of how you see yourself in the future, and it's hard to find something that identifies you individually from other people," said Bob. "A lot of times, a lot of websites will grab my image. And, you know, they don't post me as the artist, but a lot of people say, 'Hey, that's Tom Bob.' So it's nice to have a recognizable image that people exactly identify with." Each piece is artistic in nature but holds historical importance to the neighborhood it's located in, Bob said. Before creating any piece, Bob is diligent in understanding the shared cultural references of the neighborhood to create a piece that speaks to residents in the area. And, above all else, Bob hopes to bring a little piece of joy to the world of those who come in contact with his art. "If it creates a smile to someone, even if it's a few seconds, it's improving their day," said Bob.
