Not directed at you, just kicking off your comment with an observation that the best way to make sure this doesn't happen is to keep professional and personal very separate. I recently saw a post by a guy in his professional twitter account that linked to his somewhat neglected personal instagram account that apparently he has decided to repurpose for work but if you scroll back far enough, his real name is displayed (not to mention it reveals he's older than he claims ). I'm sure he would freak out if he realized this, it basically contradicts his whole professional persona.
Point is people are amazingly leaky with personal info by nature, it requires sustained effort to maintain a partition. But if you do (unintentionally?) blur the line between the personal and the professional, don't freak out when people turn up knowing more about you than you anticipated.
