I'm of two minds on this. I often eat by myself when traveling and at good restaurants. I haven't seen this phenomenon of social influencers at work in this milieu in cities such as Montreal or Toronto. But if I did I probably would find it disruptive to my enjoying the ambience of people enjoying themselves dining out.

Otoh, I will put my phone on the table and look at it from time to time if I am not actually eating but waiting for the next course. What I find deplorable is when I observe two or more people eating together and some or all of them are looking at their phones and not engaging each other in conversation. I think they must not have much interesting going on in their lives since they have nothing to talk about.

We laugh about this when we see it, but what is worse to us, is when they then start playing a video that is so loud the other patrons can't hear themselves talk.

  2. I bought treasuries (in my IRA, no less) beginning of April that listed at 4.7% for three months when I put the order in.  Thought with the SVB problems they might come down a bit but by the time the order executed it rose to where I got 5.09% (5.18% compounded).  I think I read that since the bank issues may be in check, the Fed may be looking at another 1/4 rate hike.

  3. We're only going to be there for the weekend and only need to choose one play for Saturday, so the search isn't too complicated. We used to go to theater every time we went thru London but haven't in at least a decade...I think the last play we saw was "Noises Off."  Kinda sad that the restaurant we used to always go to closed, too...Red Fort.

  4. Pfft.  All my savings accounts atm are paying 4.5% and up.  This rate is not all that special and sub 4% is not even close.  Even the cash management account (where they sweep unused funds) at Fidelity is now 4.5%.

List of the best high interest yield accounts, we list ALL high interest accounts - get up to 5% APY with a rewards account or 2.35% on a basic account.

If you get more back than 1:1 from Apple, then sweep that somewhere else.

4/19:  I just did a manual sweep to a money market at Fidelity and the rate is 4.66%.

  5. When I saw him for the massage he did get nude and hard (woof!) but that's as far as he would go.  I'm under the impression he saves anything like that for his escort experience.  Big tease!  I'm sure if I had suggested an upgrade at the time it would have been fun.

Just saw an artic le that some banks are offer rates of 6% now!

I was like 'Artic what?'  At first, lol.  The rates I'm watching are short term (3 months) since I don't want to lock in anything long term while rates are going up.  Powell testified to Congress today and said (to the effect) that rates may have to go up more than they expected to tamp down the economy (to tame inflation).

It sounds like the MMX studios on the 3rd floor about Aaron's is functional.  Glad to hear that.  From what I'm seeing, most of the yoga classes and others are being scheduled at Aaron's other studio on 32nd Street.

Don't take my post as knowing anything about these studios.  I have no idea if this is where MMX is or not (you might, tho).  Just wanted to pass along that Alex is hosting there now, I'll be curious to see about Michael_fit...if this is his studio, too.

He says he uses the studio on 14th (map shows between 6th & 7th).  I've never been, is that the MMX place and does it have a shower?

To answer my own question, his studio is on W14th (btw 5th & 6th) and is the one that had the fire, though the studio he uses was fine.  And it has a shower.

As far as Alex and the experience...wow, HOT!  LOL.

I buy my T-bills through Fidelity.  They have both the secondary and the treasury issue ones.  The Treasury issues don't have a fee.  I'm still doing 3-month bills and the rate is just above 4.7% now.

Latest buy is just a hair below 5% for the 3 month treasuries.  Came out to 4.95% when I computed using compounding every quarter.  The best regular 3 month CDs on Fidelity were listed at 4.65% (which comes out to 4.73% with quarterly compounding).

The best form of LTC insurance is to take care of yourself and eat healthy when you're in your prime. A nursing home should be something you're actively trying to avoid in your old age.

It's possible that you may need a nurse to visit you at home a couple times a week or maybe even daily but that's something you can anticipate and invest for decades in advance.

LOL, not all of us around here HAVE decades.

edit: wasn't trying to insult anyone else, but I just passed the same age at which one of my parents died of cancer and, weirdly, I had some basel cell removed this year.  Fate is pretty weird.  Luckily the other parent lived for another 20 years.

Perhaps just shoot them each a message on RM and ask—no one here will be able to give you a more certain answer.

If people have had incalls with them and it was at this location, you don't think they would know?  That's all I'm asking, and Michel_fit has already responded.
