As I posted above my savings account did go up and is now at 2.10%. It is gonna increase with the fed rate hike next week once again too. Once the fed looks like they are done doing hikes then I may consider CDs. But I'll be able to invest more money into I bonds as well before we get to that point anyway.

What bank pays 2.1% interest?   I'd like to open an account there.   Right now I'm only getting .1.7

For those of you who keep a savings account, check out the new CD rates at Citibank. Effective 8/9-8/15.

    1 year 2.50%
1 year no penalty for early withdrawal 1.50%
    18 month 2.75%

I refuse to deal with Citi, they really screwed me over two years ago.   They just closed my accounts stating they decided not to business with me any longer and made me forfeit almost $700 I had in rewards on my credit card.   No issue with them closing the account but really pissed me off they wouldn't give me the $700, if I tell Citi I no longer want to do business with them, I'm still expected to pay my balance.

That's a poor return on one year at the 1.5%.   A online credit union I use is paying 1.7% right now and they have a promo for new customers that if you put in $100 a month they'll give you $100 after a year and I see interest rates rising not falling.

If someone hasn't reached their max yet for the IBond limit they are better off going that route.   The return after 18 months will definitely be over 2.75% and even if you want to cash out after 18 months and get stuck with the 3 month interest penalty the return is still a lot higher than doing an 18 month CD.

  3. Why not just use your ATM card and draw a small amount of Euros when you get to Europe and pay for everything else with plastic?

A lot of credit cards don't charge a fee overseas and you don't need to worry about being out anything like if you lose the cash and it's a better way to keep track of your spending.   In restaurants it's a lot easier to just tap the phone against their reader than to wait around for the waiter to bring you change and in London when riding public transport it is so much easier just tapping the phone against the reader than having to put money on the oyster card and dealing with that and getting a refund on the balance when leaving the UK.

I was in London in July and the only cash I spent was the cover to get into a club and I was in Paris last week and the only cash I spent was to pay a provider.

I also like using a credit card if it's a place I return to because I enter everything in quicken and I can type something in the memo field and when I go back to the city just do a search in quicken to find the name of the restaurant

  4. We are both in Paris now.   Total flake I’d avoid.   I messaged him last week saying I was interested and he did reply and his English sounded awful in the response.   I asked his rate and figured he ghosted me and a week later I get a response saying he likes to meet first and discuss rates in person and asked my age and a photo and my hotel and room number and what time.   Sounds like bad news to me.

If you want to meet a hot Russian escort who speaks perfect English and is very intelligent in Paris contact Dmitry Osten.   I hired him a few days ago and he was probably the best escort I’ve ever hired.   Not to get political but I knows a few people had trouble with Andrew being Russian, but Dmitry is against what is going on there and is relocating to Paris.   Very nice guy, hot AF and great in bed.

  5. In Paris till Tuesday and didn’t think if a lot of museums being closed Mondays.  I was going to do Versailles or Disney tomorrow and found out Versailles is closed minday so did that today and my friend didn’t make it and I hate to do Disney alone.

any recommendations for museums open monday besides the louvre?

  6. I see his ad is back up.   I have a huge spanking fetish and he did spank a twink in a reluctant young men video and also got it from him.   Only problem was the spanking was really wimpy, figured he could have really laid it on with those arms but twink probably couldn't take much.   The twink had a mask on and was supposedly one of his friends and had a cute body, wouldn't mind hiring his friend either.

    Quite right.

A friend of mine just got a reply about his renewal (seven weeks) and now can't seem to find any date for the interview.  No spots open anywhere in Texas except for CBP at Laredo.  Very odd.

I suggested to him to renew on his next international trip.  If you have your passport, GE card and proof of residency, you can just walk-in while transiting at some airports.

Interviewing on arrival is his best bet if he has an international trip coming up if there are no slots available at his home airport.   Someone in my office is always required to interview on his renewal (he has a disorderly conduct from his college ays and he thinks that why and isn't complaining since a lot of times any criminal record disqualifies you).

I'm glad my renewal was approved with no interview.

If his home airport has a interview facility, he can always try doing a walk in interview before a domestic flight.      If they have a last minute cancel or are running ahead of schedule a lot of times they'll take a walk in.

I thought they were also doing zoom interviews for renewals but may have stopped those.

  8. There is a facebook group called edibles 420 that has a lot of recipes that look good

There was a show on netflix called cooking on high that was a reality show where the contestants made food with pot.   The host was hot (Josh Levya) and worth watching it just for him.

I'd like to try making edibles since that's the only way I will induce weed but sounds like you have to make the butter and I don't want to stink up my condo and I only do 20 mg of edibles once every few weeks so really doesn't pay me to make my own.

  9. Seems to a total YMMV situation   On the flyertalk thread some people are saying they waited over eight months and others are saying they got approved in two days while their spouse or kids had to wait months applying for renewal the same day.

I applied for my renewal in late March and didn't received the notice that I had been approved for another five years without needing an interview in late July and had my card a week later.

I think they are extending GE by 18 or 24 months still past the expiration date as long as you apply in time.

I live near the canadian border and it has saved me so much time coming back, I really need to get Nexus

  10. I wasn't able to open the article without a NYTimes account but I have a ninja foodie that has the airfryer as one of the settings and I use it a lot for things like sweet potato fries and frozen things you would normally put in a a deep fryer.

There are just some things that require oil that they don't work for like hush puppies and fried green tomatoes

  11. Anyone one have any experience with him?   He sent me this unsolicited email:

    Hey how are you?

I offer Erotic Massages that can be therapeutic, kinky, involving edging and / or with what ever style of massage you prefer; Swedish, Deep Tissue, Standard Sports massage, Head Massage… etc

I’m quite strong and massages can range from very light to very intense. I'll make sure to meet all your expectations.

I provide a head board for the bed and can make a custom massage oil with infused CBD salve or essential oil for an aroma-therapeutic effect.

I'm hoping those rates he posted are for an escort and not a massage.   $250 an hour with a 1.5 hour minimum and he has an incall rate posted but says in the email he lost his studio.   I received an unsolicited email when I was in NYC this winter and the email sounded very much like this one with skyhigh rates but I know he wasn't using that name.   Might be worth hiring but only if it's escort services

  12. Suze orman talked about them again in this mornings podcast.

Something interesting she mentioned is you earn interest for the entire month you own it when you buy or sell so if you buy on 4/28 you'll get paid interest for 4/1 to 4/30 for the month of April and if you sell on 4/1 you get interest for the entire month of april.

Another way to maximize your income off them.

@handiacefailure sounds like me going through the NEXUS line, when going back and forth to Canada.  The "best" is when Montreal is all backed up, and you have to pull the "pardon me... 'scuse me..." past all of the people waiting on the stairs, going down to the general maze, because they're so backed up, they're blocking your entrance.  One guy stopped me, asked where I was going.  I flashed my card, pointed, and said, "That's my line."

I don't have nexus and should get it since I use to go to Canada a lot via land crossing.   I have GE and love when there are huge lines to cross the border coming back and I can use the Nexus line.

I came back from London yesterday and it was that way with the GE lines in DTW.  There were a couple people trying to use the GE kiosks because they heard they were faster and upset it didn't work.   They had no clu8e you had to have the background check and approval

You'll pick up a lot of knowledge my watching Dave Ramsey's videos on youtube. Not everything he says is good advice but you'll still develop a broad enough understanding of the basics of personal finance and investing.

I have no use for Ramsey.   I heard he’s homophobic and won’t allow gay couples on his show to shout they are debt free.

He has also fired people for having premarital sex.   Tenn. is a right to work state and recently he fired a female employee who was pregnant and not married because she violated the “morality clause” for having premarital sex.   So now the lady is without insurance to cover her pregnancy and newborns health care.   I heard he will fire LGBTQ employees if he finds out.

His financial advice doesn’t work at all for me, but could for someone who can’t handle debt.   I charge everything I can on credit cards for the miles and points and get a ton of benefits (i.e. rental car coverage for free that paid for a claim a couple years ago and trip delay/cancel insurance which has saved me a lot of the years).   He is against credit card and thinks everyone should have a debit card instead (not to mention you also have to pay foreign transaction fees overseas).

Totally disagree with him on student loans.   He thinks people shouildn’t finance an education. Come on, paying cash for college is impossible for most people.  If I would have received a two year instead of a four year degree, I/‘d be making a fraction of what I make in my field with a four year degree.   And it would be impossible to pay for medical or law school with cash, and he thinks people should work, and that isn’t possible if you are in med school with the hours you put in.

I do agree with him that the only debt someone should have is a 15 year mortgage and pay it off ASAP.

I liked it a lot.  Have you also checked out Heartstopper on Netflix?

    Kevin Slater

Yeah I’ve watched the first few episodes.   Good show so far.

Young Royals on Netflix is another good show with a young gay theme.   I see season 2 will be coming out in November

  16. Been binge watching it.   I watched the first three episodes a few months ago on a Delta long flight (their IFE system had just the first three shows) and I loved Love, Simon and decided to get Hulu mainly just to watch this show since I'm not out much seeing my AmEx streaming credit covers it.

Finished watching it last night.   Sad to see it end.   Anyone that watched Love, Simon knew how the series would end after five minutes into the last show.

Plenty of nice eye candy.   I wish they would have had a show where they had a GLSEN meeting since the parents attended PFLAG.   I think it would have been nice at the end of the final show if they would have given out the name and phone number/websites for teens strugling for charities like GLSEN and Trevor Project as well.

  17. My sister has very sensitive skin and uses Ecos that is a plant based detergent she buys at Costco.   She also uses free and gentle downy for a fabric softner.   If you are using dryer sheets or a regular softener or bleach that could be causing the irritation as well.
