  1. Or will people be a bit freaked out about sharing equipment for a while and make some sort of gym at their home. I live on the third floor of an older condo building built in the 1920s. I wonder if I would be able to have a treadmill/elliptical and some sort of weight machine in a room. Would the floors be strong enough to handle it?
  2. I was really disappointed with Jewel delivery. Scheduled for 3-5. At 4:45 clicked on the "where is my delivery" option and got an email saying "delivery scheduled 3-5". At 5:45, I clicked on the "late delivery/never received option". At 6:50 I got a text, it would arrive from Door Dash at 7:13. Finally at 7:25 arrived. Yes, there is a Mariano's near me and a friend said they had good luck. Think I will stick with going to the store myself.
  3. I'm trying my first JewelOsco (Chicagoland) delivery tomorrow. Hoping I am not disappointed. I realized after I submitted order, that I would like to add something and can't find a way to add, only edit what is already in cart. And Chicago friends got advice on that? Thanks
  4. I looked at his Insta again and that is his sister and her children. Supposedly Bi though, whether true or just for "publicity", but hot nonetheless. Would hire after this is all over if in the same area.
  5. I hired him once. Sweet guy, big member, hard f*ck but hygiene is a bit lacking.
  6. Shame about JSullivan. He used to work for Treasure Island Media. Thought perhaps he had given up the party life, but apparently not. He looks pretty good so far.
  7. And I'm in Chicago and so far, only know of two HS classmates (from Facebook) posts who have had it. The woman has been ill on and off for nearly 6 weeks. She is 60 and her husband also 60 had a milder form. She claims she had very little fever but other things and is still fatigued. But then again, my cohort of friends is the type to follow stay at home orders, so perhaps that is why.
  8. Just returned from a trip to my local Jewel. It was moderately crowded. One woman going the wrong way down the aisle yelling "social distancing!" (as if possible) and thankfully the guy passing her said "yes, and you are going the wrong way down the aisle - these are one way aisles". Of course, she didn't "hear" that. I think I am now pretty set for a couple weeks. I may try delivery though when I was checking the Jewel site for delivery and using my store, it did not show all the different variety of block cheese. I thought they were out, but not in the store. So it appears that delivery might not be optimal.
  9. Many stores in Chicago will still allow reusable bags, HOWEVER, YOU have to bag your own groceries. I have to check, but I thought early on Pritzker removed the bag tax but still getting charged. Just checked and the bag tax has NOT been revoked for COVID in Illinois.
  10. I was practically crying when I first saw it. Especially Kate McKinnon's old woman! "you trying to kill me, Alize"?
  11. AHA! I was thinking Puff Pastry as in the sheets like Filo dough. Yours makes sense.
  12. Amazon Echo for the Silver Generation.
  13. Just curious, how is Puff Pastry an acceptable substitute for Turkey Breast?
  14. When I went to my Mariano's in Edgewater about a week or so ago, I did not see wipes. Just a thing of hand sanitizer and I think it was empty with a sign saying "soap available in restroom". Since Kroger bought them, a HUGE decrease in quality all the way around.
  15. Growing up in a heavily Jewish community (at one time had the most Holocaust survivors living there in the U.S. - Skokie, IL) my friends always pronounced it Matzo BRIE but I think it really is spelled BREI. Quarantine getting to us. At it was just hinted today that IL may be in lockdown til June.
  16. I cannot overemphasize how important it is to contact someone who lives alone. Not just to ensure they are not sick, but to keep them connected. I recently retired from my career at Christmas. I was surprised at a couple of people who contacted me in January and February to keep in touch. Both are older single women, so I have been in contact with them during this time and I can tell it helps one whose family in not in the area a lot. It helps me also! Have had a couple of Zoom "Happy Hours" and it lifts my spirits tremendously.
  17. Thanks everyone for the good advice. I should mention that I am allergic to cats, otherwise, I probably would foster one now as I could even care for it if sick at home. My favorite shelter in Chicago, PAWS, is out of foster dogs at the moment. I too, worry, that many people are adopting now and when they must go back to work, will return them to the shelter.
  18. You are probably correct, however, I also do not own a car so not sure how I would return the pet, plus if infected, supposed to quarantine for at least 14 days.
  19. The real issue is, that if I become infected, NO ONE should be allowed to come to my house to fetch the dog to take him for walks, etc. While it appears that dogs do not GET COVID, I think it can reside in their fur, etc. And if I am hospitalized?
  20. So gents, I am a single man who lives alone. I have wanted a dog for a long time but when i was working it was too hard with my schedule. I am now retired and was about to volunteer at a no kill shelter but COVID has postponed that opportunity. I feel like I could really use the emotional support of a dog, however, I am wondering if wise with this virus raging. Say I adopted/fostered a dog and caught COVID. Who would take care of the dog (i.e. walks, etc.). I suppose this scenario could be applied to if I got cancer, etc with the exception of being able to hire a dog walker. So i guess my question is, any single men out there with a dog and if so, are you making contingency plans in case you become infected with COVID? Thanks Jon
  21. I have about 5 N95 masks that are probably at least 10 years old. I plan on using one or two for the grocery store and wondering if spraying with 91% alcohol will be sufficient to sterile. I only have a few pairs of disposable gloves but have some polyester blend winter gloves that I use and then toss in wash or alcohol spray. The problem is, as someone on here mentioned, as soon as you touch something in the store, you should consider them contaminated. There was a Youtube video showing a woman in the grocery store with gloves and then she touched her keys, which then went back into her purse, etc. It seems like an endless cycle. I get home, empty my pockets, toss the clothes into the wash (keep the lid already open!) then wash hands. Then toss in detergents, etc. and start wash. Then sanitize groceries, wash hands, then sanitize phone, wallet, etc. Wash hands again twice and then wash face (OK, I am obsessive now). My friend is now putting his phone in a baggie so if he needs to use it while out he can. Comes home opens the bag and lets the phone slip out, then tosses baggy and washes hands. What is everyone doing to disinfect produce?
  22. Is anyone jumping rope? I've seen some posts on Facebook about it and thinking I could probably do it on my back porch (assuming i can still jump at my age!).
  23. And I LOVED her for doing it, but she blew it BIG time by having her hairdresser come to her house (albeit supposedly in gloves and mask) to cut her hair. The memes, however, are hysterical!
