What used to be called an annual physical has now become an annual wellness check. I’m not sure if this is because of Medicare or not. My annual physical used to be a more thorough examination where my PCP would have me disrobe to my underwear, check for a hernia, check my prostate, look my body over for potential skin carcinomas, have a complete blood panel done, blood pressure check, urine sample given, etc. I had my annual wellness check last week and was in and out in 10 minutes. Aside from listening to my heart and checking my blood pressure that was about it. I remained completely clothed for the duration. We briefly discussed my blood results which were all normal. Also, before the doctor came in the nurse asked me a few cognitive questions….what year is it? Count back from 20 by twos. Name the months of the year in reverse order. And, I had to request an A1C test because it wasn’t part of the regular blood workup. I suspect Medicare doesn’t reimburse doctors very much for this type of appointment and therefore the annual checkup is reflected in services delivered. Of course, I’m required to go every year so I can have my prescription renewed for the next year.

@coriolis888 mentioned in a previous post that filling a prescription in a state where a doctor is not licensed to practice is not possible. My experience is quite different. I live in the Midwest but spend my winters in Florida. I’ve never had a problem refilling my prescription written by my doctor in the Midwest while I’m in Florida. Maybe certain drugs can’t be prescribed across state lines…I’m not sure about that.

The 1-star review on this guy’s RM ad says the the guy who showed up was not the guy in the ad. Something to consider if considering hiring this guy.

I received WBD spinoff shares from T. Held them for a little while but eventually sold them at a slight loss. I continue to hold the T shares but were I to sell them I would take a substantial loss. I’ve owned T for decades now and simply use the dividends to support this hobby. Of course, my T dividends took a hit after the spinoff as the dividend per share was slashed. I contracted malaria while serving in the Peace Corps in Africa in the 70s. To be honest, I don’t remember much about having it other than a few chills and a fever. I do remember the doctor telling me there were 3 types of malaria and I had the mildest form. The most severe form was deadly and could kill within 3 days. As volunteers we were required to take a medication called Aralen. I’m not sure of its efficacy but I think its main ingredient was quinine. After 50 years my memories have faded. I was exposed to so many tropical diseases unknown here in the States that I’m surprised I survived. 😂 Because of these exposures I was told I shouldn’t donate blood for 10 years, though.
