Yes absolutely Jorge

I am very thankful we are discussing this because many of us want a genuinely good massage for health, relaxation, connection, and intimacy. We work hard, negotiate difficult things in our jobs and personal lives, and need a good safe reliable space to unwind and take care of our needs. We don’t need our massage space to another complicated thing to add stress. The thing is what we need (and it varies) is out there. We have experienced it. But it’s getting more complicated to find it with the added increase in costs and health risks. The lure of a new young hot body is out there (and we love it of course) but it only goes so far and sometimes not far at all, if anywhere. We need the deeper more lasting connections that are affordable and reliable. Again, thank you to all of you and this site that help us navigate. K

I agree. There are still some good ones out there and the clues to the not so good or bad ones are sometimes evident in the ads as @Jamie21 described. Sticking with the tried and true who know how to do a good massage is more what I am doing as well.

Exactly!

Thank you and I love your honesty. Greatly appreciated. I share your frustration with the inconsistency while at the same time agreeing that there have been many excellent experiences along the way as well. Something like massage that has so many forms and varieties and is so personal and involves touch and varied physical reactions even to that is bound to be a frustrating experience at some point. This forum is a marvel at helping to pair down significantly those experiences and hires that are likely to be disappointing. In my journey, I’ve run across those few who consistently give me a great value for the money. I tend to stick with those and experiment less with the YMMV type. The thrill of the unknown is getting more expensive and not as worth it.

This has happened to me before and it’s a pain. I always communicate via email first and then text as has been suggested in the thread.

If you have doubts, don’t. Your inner peace is as important as the physical pleasure of massage (imho)

I’ve tried several times to contact him but no response. Anyone know if he is still active?

Yes and I would say it can feel dehumanizing. Better not at all if it’s “mechanical.”

Thank all of you for sharing these experiences and perspectives. I recently hired a RentMasseur masseur who delivered as advertised $180 for 60min. The massage was average (not bad), with the extras appropriate to the overall cost. I texted a short note of appreciation after the session not expecting a response. He the texted back thanking me for the note and saying that he offered “full service” if I wanted to come again later in the week. We were both traveling, it wasn’t possible, and I didn’t want to spend any more $$. A couple of months later, I was in that masseur’s city and texted for availability and asked what the full service option was. He texted back that it was $500 and all that came with it, clearly an escort deal which I was not interested in and too rich for me. I politely texted thank you but the price was too high for me. He then came down considerably, which was nice, but it just felt a bit awkward and not quite “au fait” with what the reduced price included, and after all that I didn’t even know what I wanted anymore, so I declined. But better this than the upsell on the table which I cannot abide.

Yep. Definitely strange and something is not right there.

Well yes and in my experience, it is hard to find a good, actually well trained masseur, no matter what the sign says. I’ll take a good non-formally-trained masseur (body rub guy) if he’s good at what he does. But at least here it seems there is no pretense of portraying the experience as more than it is.
-
That is super frustrating especially when you just made the appointment. That guy sounds like he just wanted to do something else that day but didn’t want to say that and so used a lame excuse about “not confirming.” Who knows? I’m sorry that happened to you. I’ve had providers cancel on me last minute for reasons I felt (knew?) were bogus but I could not prove it and so didn’t want to risk falsely accusing someone.

Hope to join this year and meet many of you! Sounds amazing!! I am appreciative of all those who are organizing!

I have seen him recently. PM me for details.

Does anyone m one of a good Latino masseur at one of the NYC spas?
-
You know I have wondered if there was a site like this for masseurs who discussed clients. Haha. I know there are masseurs / providers on this site and I always appreciate their thoughts and perspectives.

Man I hear you. It just doesn’t add—especially when they reach out to you and then nothing. If all of this were on a volunteer basis that would be one thing, but then it is a transaction for a service that involves money and time for both provider and client it is a different world (in my book, I realize others may not see it this way). I do not expect a provider to always want me as a client and they have every right to say no. What I get frustrated with is the lack of communication when commercially one does have the expectation to either be accepted or denied. I’m ok if a provider doesn’t want to take me as a client and just says so, even without a reason… but ghosting, no. It’s unprofessional.

I have had a masseur a time or two fall asleep on me. The first time was before a session and didn’t hear my first or second knock at the door. When he answered the door, he was drowsy, almost naked, and quite disoriented. He was apologetic. I offered to come back another time, but he insisted I stay and the massage was not bad. The second was the time a guy quit in the middle of the session saying he was too tired to finish. He did cut the price in half which I thought was generous of him. But as he was sincere and just worn out, I paid him the whole fee. I’ve been there when I needed to work and was just too tired for whatever reasons.

If you are interested, here are three guys in Dallas I have used repeatedly and had consistently good experiences: Thomas https://www.masseurfinder.com/massage-therapists/1059/ Eddie https://www.masseurfinder.com/massage-therapists/19606/ JD (when available) https://www.masseurfinder.com/massage-therapists/5721/

Yes! He was not into it at all.
-
Yeah I hear you, and it’s our cash they are messing with. If they want cash they need to really earn it. Life is too short to be paying for 2/5.
-
Yes I did see him eventually when he came through my town. Avoid. The massage is not that great, shorted a bit on time, the rest was just odd, not bad, but I left feeling like I had wasted my $$.

Looks like a nice spa. Will check it out. Prices seem about right.

Just posted on this same topic a couple of days ago and agree with all of you!
