  1. I’ve see there is a roster of several new masseurs at Shangrila Spa in NYC. Anyone been there lately to see either a Kevin, Javi, or William? Maybe these have been around but are just new to me. Thanks.
  2. I walked in without an appointment and got Chris for a table shower (scrub down) and then a massage. It was a great experience. Chris is a tall and very fit young Asian guy who did a great job for me. No issues with me. I will go back.
  3. Around 30/40% sometimes more if the massage was exceptionally good. I suspect they don’t make very much on the massage to start with but I don’t really know.
  4. The subject of tipping at a Spa has been discussed before but it’s been a while and times are changing and pricing of non-spa masseurs have risen in NYC since before covid. What do you consider to be a reasonable standard tip (as a percentage of the massage fee) for a masseur who has done a good job with basic services? I know this varies widely, but I’m trying to evaluate if I am tipping too much or too little.
  5. I’ve seen Brad several times as well when he was in NY and also traveling. Great massage and a great guy in my experience. PM me.
  6. One of mine too. All ways works for me.
  7. Has anyone tried HK spa in NYC? I'm sure there is info on the site but cant seem to locate it. Is this a rebranding of a spa that closed and then reopened? Thanks!
  8. Well I’m glad to know it’s not just me. The no response is no way to do good business.
  9. I’m my experience, so much of what “happens” is a matter of the chemistry between masseur and client which can change from day to day and client to client. I always ask what is included in the rate and don’t expect any thing else. I especially think that it’s important to respect the masseur’s dignity and boundaries. For the client they are the only masseur they are seeing that day. For the masseur they may have several of clients, which is hard work and they may not be able to give the same energy to all clients. All of the really good masseurs I have been too want to be respected for being a good masseur not something else. I know this because i have talked to many (not all) about how they feel and what they hope to get out of the session. It’s instructive to hear their side of this discussion. Thankful for masseurs on this site who do just that.
  10. Agree with @questbear and I will say that I’ve had exceptional massage service at one or two local spas that were well deserving of tips especially because the provider only gets a fraction of what’s one pays. What’s wild is that a superior massage and excellent treatment including a generous tip from some spa providers is less than half the cost of what some expensive individual masseurs who provide less than half the skill and half the treatment. On the other hand I have two individual “go to” private masseurs who are exceptional and deserving of their fee plus tip. All this to say, it takes time and some experience to figure out what works for you and where you can find the value and price point you are looking for. Hence the value of this forum to help figure that out.
  11. I would also ad Pasha to the list. I’ve seen him several times (including last week) and the massage is second to none. Upper East side and a bit pricey at $230 for 90min but you get everything in the 90min and he never shorts on time. https://rentmasseur.com/PashaNYC
  12. Yes I have been several times to the new Shangrila Spa location and it’s great.
  13. Omg is this place for real?!? How are they even in business. New owners?
  14. This is a good one… same as Chaosmen Glenn and Vander
  15. This has always been a favorite from Chaosmen. Glenn and Vander
  16. Yes I have had experience with him but it was pre-covid when he was traveling through. Both times were good experiences. When I saw him, he looked like his pictures. Was muscular, a very nice guy, and received his clients in a very high end hotel. I didn’t know what happened to him until I saw this thread. PM me if you want more details.
  17. This is an interesting topic. I was once told at.fairly good spa that the minimum tip for a 90Min massage was $30. The massage was just under $100. It was weird because while tipping is part of our culture I work often in cultures where tipping is either considered rude or is not expected. At any rate, it’s appropriate to tip at a spa because—as many have said—- the provider only gets a fraction of the fee. But when one is going to a private residence or facility for an already expensive massage, tip should be for something special I think. I never mind tipping generously for each ellent service. But when the massage is “meh” and nothing stands out and the price is already high, then maybe that is different. Still it’s good to give something in recognition of effort unless it ia just horrible or the provider cheats you substantially on time. For me that is a variation of 15 min or more.
  18. Thanks for saving me a disappointing experience. He is hot in his new pics but not worth those dollars. I got the eye candy for free.
  19. M Star Spa? In NYC? PM with any details.
  20. In my view we have all reached a point where we really don’t need any kind of condescending moments or body shaming when we pay increasingly high prices to just relax and escape the stress we already have. We all have our quirks but I don’t want to pay for any more of them than I have to. Haha.
  21. This guy was a terrible provider and should be avoided. Looks like most of you have.
  22. Ah ok, thanks. Good to know. Are these two different establishments run by two different proprietors or just two locations of the same establishment? Just so I understand… thank you
