I do the same thing. I ask "whereabouts are your hosting". I've sometimes gotten the actual hotel, or gotten an area, or told hotel info will be provided closer to meeting.

In Detroit, I remember dialing WEATHER for the weather forecast. Also remember we had a party line.

Been going to Maui since the 80s. Just terrible.

I've had good luck with GPS. Once rented a car with a separate GPS handed to me in a bag. It got me from Walkersville MD to Four Seasons Georgetown. No prob.

Not following their own instructions. A provider said the day before the appointment, he would text hotel location, and day of, he would reconfirm. Day before, no text. I got a hotel to avoid time driving in/out before and after the appointment, so should I wait around, or cut my losses and head back home. He did text day of, but still no location. Had to ask. We met, but not a good match. Should have followed my instinct to go back home.

Years ago, power went out in our neighborhood for a few days. Our building has a back up generator to light public spaces, but it was out in all our apartments. Turned out, the outlets in the lobby had power. Met and learned a lot about several of the neighbors as we all sat and talked waiting for our phones to charge.

I paid that before COVID. (HE MT incl.)

I've thought of hitting on some guys at the grocery store, but haven't because I don't trust my gaydar.

Might even be walkable to/from the Norwood Park Metra (train) stop for non-car folks. Road that rail for a few years. It’s out of Ogilvie.
