Thanks. My apologies @Avalon

What year are you living in? (LOL, no offense, but I that that was a game show from the 70's)

Yes. Outside Willis Tower (apologies to Sears Tower fans), a guy (2nd time) started to give his story about needing money for the L because of his pass or something. I looked at him, and reminded him he tried the same thing on me a couple of weeks ago. He turned and walked away.

I love reading an actual paper. Don't like the electronic paper. It's my way to disconnect from electronic media. I get the local suburban paper delivered daily, and read it after breakfast every morning. Have no clue what it costs to buy in store, but they always have a special for around $25 for 10 weeks. I also get the Sunday Chicago Tribune delivered, and I just renewed it for about $32 for delivery through early December. It came with an electronic daily version I never read. I think the Trib is $4 a copy if you buy it in the store. On rare occasions, I admit to reading online the Detroit Free Press, and Maui News, but don't subscribe.

On a good note. Not a panhandler, but was walking down Michigan Ave. late one night in Chicago in River North. Not many people around. A guy was selling Streetwise, so I decided to buy a copy. Took out my wallet, went to get the money, accidentally dropped a $100 bill. He told me about it. I paid him $20 for the paper.

Didn't happen to me.

In the mid 90s, while waiting at the light on northbound 1st ave. in Maywood to go west on the Eisenhower, always saw the same woman walking in the road in a tattered jacket and sign asking for money. Fast forward 5 years later, back on that same route, same woman, same walk in between lanes.

I understand your loyalty.

Can only imagine what the screening process was.

Perhaps he likes to be in the middle of a "straight couple" sandwich. He bottoms for the guy while in the woman.

I worked in that building for several years after it became Willis Tower. Yes, when I moved to Chicago in the 80's, it was Sears Tower, and I called it that for many years after the name change. But, when you walk through those doors 5 days a week, morning and night, for several years, you accept reality, and go with it.

No experience. He previously used the escort name Jamie Stroud. Also did porn as Chip Tanner.

I'll bet your daytime business was pretty good.

Being in the burbs, I drive in to meet for incall. I've never meet someone in the neighborhoods, but when visiting friends, a lot of narrow streets, and parking can problematic. Plus, if I leave early in case there is traffic, and arrive early, What do I do, or where do I go to kill time beforehand if it's an unfamiliar neighborhood. Always like if they stay at a hotel, can just leave car with valet. I tell them going to meet a friend for an hour or so (they know what's going on), and more often than not, with a $5 tip, they leave the car off to the side. If early, stop for a pop at the hotel bar. Another $5 tip to get the keys back. I understand about downtown. I've stayed at the W, and JW on Adams (by Willis Tower). Nice hotels, but it was dead at night. More activity further north.

Never have been a morning person. That's not to say, I can't get up early if needed. Worked all shifts. I once had a job where I had to be there a 05:30 am. Not just show up and have coffee, but boom, in the chair, doing it. It was a 24/7 operation that was different every day. Had that job for a few years. It was brutal, yet exciting, and often, I would get a call at 2 am asking if I could come in early. Now retired, 10 am is early for me. I've had to set my alarm to meet friends for even a late brunch.

I liked San Diego. It's been almost 20 years since I've been there, so take this with a grain of salt. Visited there a few times back then. Have stayed in Old town, Coronado, and Mission Hills. Zoo is awesome, an elephant slobbered trunk spit on my hand (it's just like water). Got spit on by some big ole fish at Sea World (whale, or dolphin). Gaslamp area had a lot of bars, restaurants, and people. Hotel Del is worth a look if you like old buildings. Still have the souvenir glasses they used to served us Coronado Mimosas (they add cranberry juice), but stayed at the Lowes. Neighborhood feel in Mission Hills area. Visited La Jolla. Beautiful, and expensive (including the fine for the parking ticket I got). I'm sure others close to San Diego can give you more accurate info.

You may be surprised. DNA was traced back to eastern Africa. I've been asked if I'm Russian, or Polish.

Radiators, or radiant heat, not so much. Furnaces, or other forced air heat, yes. Best to then have either a humidifier attached to the furnace, or humidifier(s) in a room or 2 to keep the dry air sparks away.
-
When it gets bad, city opens "cooling stations". Public buildings were people can go. Don't know when or if they are open 24 hours.

Yes, there have been some brutal summers on occasion. In in summer of '95, there were over 700 deaths.
