It does create jobs for those already having homes, and we know that bureaucrats will do anything to keep their bureau growing. I do favor mandatory confinement for the homeless that are mentally ill, and mandatory live-in treatment for the drug addicted. Beyond that, helping people in need never goes out of favor...

I just finished reading Farrell Covington and the Limits of Style by Paul Rudnick. It is a very likable gay romance novel about a very handsome rich kid and an aspiring young playwright. Lots of history, lots of sex. Pretty good book. Not that it didn't irritate me a time or two.

With ATMs the big thing now, I know that travelers checks are mostly a thing of the past, but it there a reason why you shouldn't take US cash? Just in case the ATM card fails or is stolen or locked...
