astro got a reaction from peter831 in Hiring in 2026 - is it too much trouble?
This whole process sounds super sketchy to me — I would never accept it. I’ve never once been asked for advance payment, and honestly, cash is still the most flexible and truly anonymous option. All these extra rules and conditions just kill any fun or spontaneity. Hard pass from me.

@PetetKsfo did a great job of explaining this. There is a option to set "Availability" and "Not Available" is a setting that the guy can toggle. The default is "Not Set." Here's what it looks like:
If the guy chooses "Available" or "Not Available" he then needs to specify a timeframe, anywhere from one hour to one week:
So as Pete mentions, setting "Not Available" would indicate the guy is not available right this moment, but is otherwise available at other times. It's a more short-term option, compared to freezing or hiding the listing which would indicate a longer-term absence or limitation.

I can set my status to "available" "not-available" or "not set".
"Not set" is the default setting if I am offline.
Once I log on, the setting changes to green and shows as "available"
I can also manually set myself as "available" so even if I am not right at the computer but cooking or doing laundry or something, I can keep the "available" light on for up to 6 hours.
If I know that I have a client booked in the afternoon, or if I am not available at all for a day because I have some other plans, I can change the setting to show as "not available" - either for a number of hours, for a day, or a week - in order to not waste your time if you are looking for something right now.
So I would say that if you see a "not available" - it means the person is not available right now, or probably not for the next few hours, but may be available later or the next day.

Not knowing exactly what you're seeing, I can't offer an opinion, but here is an older discussion on what appears to be the same topic.

astro reacted to myophile in A little messed up after seeing a provider...
I’ve got a bit of this going on long-term with a guy I’ve been seeing regularly for about 8 years now. We’re still solidly in the client-provider zone, and I (at least) am not concerned that either of us will lose sight of that. But … it’s awfully nice and boy-friendy sometimes. We work out together a lot, and we text each other funny shit on a daily basis. He knows a fair amount about my private life, and me about his. And the sex continues to be PHENOMENAL. So we’re close in a way that sometimes seems a bit unusual. But although we’ve never discussed it, for both of us, that carefully-maintained level of intimacy is an important component of our particular long-term “relationship”. It helps that we both have our own (pretty solid) circles of family and friends

Speaking as a regular client of one particular provider over the past 8 years or so, all I can say is that (for me, at least) it just gets better & better. In some ways spoiled for any other meet ups (although I have tried), sadly, they just don't cut it. My guy's a keeper and I'll keep seeing him for as long as I can. Under no illusions about the nature of our relationship, but for those hours that we're together, nothing comes close. Count myself very fortunate to have stumbled into his bed all those years ago.

astro got a reaction from Veryshyone in *"Straight" providers
A few years back I hired a straight guy who was a hockey player (you can easily find his team, games and pics online if you look). Super hot face, killer body, the whole package. But he was 100% just in it for the cash — service was lazy, zero effort.
I was new to this and ignored a bunch of obvious red flags. Ended up wasting money and having a really disappointing experience. The whole thing put me off hiring anyone for over two years.
