Joel Kim Booster hosting new show on Bravo
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to samhexum's topic in TV and Streaming services
I like him in the Apple TV series Loot. He's a Housewives superfan, so I'm sure he campaigned for this hosting gig. -
Broadway: Oh, Mary! Cole Escola
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to Rod Hagen's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
I have not. Only with Escola. I'd think that Titus would find the rhythms of absurdist comedy perfectly. Kimmy Schmidt proved that. -
I remember that production. It was a one-nighter 25th anniversary. It was pre-COVID Osnes, when she wasn't alienating herself with controversial opinions. Yaz would have been a nice Bobby. Handsome and a capable dancer. My favorite to play the role is Jim Walton (at Papermill). He was one of the only performers to play Bobby that could easily tap the show, but also wring every ounce of comedy out of the role.

Grocery Shopping II: Self check out, like or loath?
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to ICTJOCK's topic in The Lounge
I won't physically deal with Walmart, but their app is swell and delivery is quick. Sam's Club allows for using your phone to scan as you go and then pay (also on your phone) on your way out the door. Quick and you never deal with registers. Costco would be smart to implement this, but based on their website and app design, member-friendly tech is nowhere near their priority. However, they do play nicely with Instacart. It works for me. I'm also a fan of HEB's app/delivery, but that's a Texas-based thing. -
I agree there's been an idealism present in the industry, but it's becoming more rare amongst producers who face rising costs to mount a show. For Stro, she had several flops in a row, with the last one costing backers $30 million (New York, New York) I don't see why they haven't let her bring back a previous success, Crazy For You. It would play well on Broadway right now.

I'm 100% with you on this. While I loved what they did with Sarah Snook(s) in Dorian Gray, I think screens/projections should only be used when it makes sense. I didn't think it made sense in something like Sunset Blvd. It made me feel totally disconnected from the actors onstage. At $300+ for a decent orchestra seat, I'm tired of minimalist musicals that look like community theater productions of Our Town.

Projections are a part of a show's lighting package. They're either nominated for lighting or they're not.

This is why I say that Bob Martin should never again be allowed to write a Broadway book. He's lost the magic. And why do they let Susan Stroman continue to handle a show when she's now had a string of bombs.

Broadway: Oh, Mary! Cole Escola

Considering the TONY voting block has a majority of gay men, it's not altogether a shocking thing to fathom. -
The Ups and Downs of Airlines and Air Travel
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to mike carey's topic in The Travel Desk
What equipment are you flying BA's J service in? I was just in their Club World Suite product from JFK-LHR and then from CDG-JFK. The seat is basically the same design as AA's J seat, except BA ordered theirs with sliding doors to close off the pod. BA's setup is also far superior to AA as they felt-lined the interior walls of the seat to cut down on cabin noise. It works well. My only issue with BA is their anodyne service. It's really hit or miss. -
No TONY noms usually means no audience.

Broadway: Oh, Mary! Cole Escola
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to Rod Hagen's topic in Live Theater & Broadway
I thought we talked about it here, but perhaps we didn't (?) I saw it back at the Lyceum and then again at the Lucille Lortel. While I enjoyed it for the camp, absurdist piece it was, I didn't find it near as wildly groundbreaking as some of the audience around me. Cole is talented, but I would have also loved to see someone like Charles Busch tackle this. -
Asking a provider’s political affiliation?
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to Simon Suraci's topic in The Lounge
If the escort is smart, he reads the room quickly and adjusts. Cutting one's nose off to spite your face is often considered, and this is a technical term, a fucking stupid move. -
This is what a 50 year old man looks like today ?
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to Ali Gator's topic in The Lounge
If you don't beat the shit out of yourself, don't drink too much, eat right and hit the gym, yes this is possible. Most men stop giving a shit at some point and it all goes to hell. -
When and Why did Twink become Twunk ?
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to + pizzaBoy's topic in The Lounge
Twinks can't stay twinks forever. Otherwise, they're just older thin men who look somewhat feminine (or androgynous). You either decide to pack on some muscle or you end up like many former twinks, fit-fat with a soft stomach. -
New section: Known Scammers
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to BeefyDude's topic in Questions About Hiring
This thread is a great example of someone who only wants one specific opinion when asking a question. But the internet doesn't work that way. You post anything and you open it- and yourself- up to everything. Realistically, the idea of a 'scammers' section here won't likely happen, as it opens the site up to legal issues. -
Robyn Hurder didn't get the TONY nomination they expected. A clear snub to this show by voters. SMASH got almost totally shut out. I hope they can survive this one.

New section: Known Scammers
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to BeefyDude's topic in Questions About Hiring
No, not a street fight. Nothing like that at all. And this isn't really a 'customer always being right' thing. It's making people realize that, yes, escorts behave badly, but also, so do clients. By simple virtue of being the one who's paying doesn't absolve you of acting like an asshole. Basically, what I'm all for is equal footing and treating those as you want to be treated. What Simon first mentioned was a typical system of check-and-balances, for both sides. -
Recommend Sweatbox and Pleasuredrome. Two very different aesthetics, but both fun and easy to find what you're looking for (well, depending). I was at both places about two weeks ago and had a great time.

New section: Known Scammers
+ BenjaminNicholas replied to BeefyDude's topic in Questions About Hiring
Bingo. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. There are more than a few members here who wouldn't want their behavior aired out. -
The Hookies (and HustlaBall) were basically the yearly major event for the industry. The event is still out there, but it's nowhere as popular as it used to be. The event was never very client-centric. It was an event conceived for rentboys, by rentboys.
