  1. Hudson's voice is fine, if not extremely one-note. Perhaps with age she'll realize that some of the best vocalists know when to gently color a phrase rather than just trumpet like a horn. Her acting is something else entirely. I was never so happy as to see when Heather Headley took over as Shug in Broadway's Color Purple. The video above is a perfect example of someone just mimicking a vocal and not making it their own. She could have a nice voice, but she needs training. You can see and hear her ticks that she uses to get through the notes.
  2. PR... Puerto Rico? They were devastated by Irma/Maria. They won't be ready for prime time for years. Also look into PVR, CUN (but staying in Playa Del Carmen), FPO and UVF.
  3. Times have changed, yes, but until there's a cure, HIV/AIDS is still killing people. We must always use common sense. My concern is the possible reduction of research funding during this Trump admin. We also need to stop looking at PrEP as a black or white issue: There are many guys who use it (with condoms) as a failsafe.
  4. And let's not forget this is the year we'll see LCT's revival of My Fair Lady and (perhaps) the speedy LA transfer of Crazy For You. Gonna be a competitive season for revivals
  5. Funny, I was also near the water. Row AA. And I agree about QED... He hardly needed a mic. Amazing vocals on 'Rain' I also got asked by Phillip Boykin (Tonton) if I'd hit the lobby bar and get him a whiskey and coke. LOL. He turned down a swig from the rather strong G&T I was drinking. In all the times I've seen this show done, this was the first time that Papa Ge was actually frightening. Big thumbs up on that.
  6. Clearly, your iPhone was Ed Sullivan in another life... http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view5/2719441/beatles-on-ed-sullivan-o.gif
  7. I'm immediately applying for the job of Kevin Slater's rimshot. I don't require insurance and I'll even bring my own snare drum.
  8. And, I've been told, some like it hot... http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/wwfeatures/wm/live/1280_640/images/live/p0/5c/ly/p05cly0x.jpg
  9. If you're street smart, future-thinking and can minimize the effects of age, it's a career. A great one.
  10. I find it disheartening that for a community who wants equality, we inner-discriminate to a point of absurdity. Different strokes for different folks, I get that... But there's something to be said for HOW you turn someone down. It costs nothing to be gentle.
  11. Saw this over the holiday weekend and it was everything I had hoped it would be: A true ensemble musical, well-sung, emotional, creatively staged and in the perfect space for the size of the production. I hope it finds an audience. It's not glitz and glamour. It's heart and genuine storytelling.
  12. The OE is quite extraordinary. I was lucky enough to ride from Paris to Istanbul: It was an awesome 11 days. It's throwback experiences like these that really excite me about travel. Some, like the Concorde, are long gone but others still remain. While it was a much larger experience, I'd put an ocean crossing on Cunard right up there. Like Funguy said, dressing up for several evenings and letting yourself play into the experience is a very fun thing
  13. Good points, but it's also why I always choose the E-ticketing option. It's a lot tougher to fake that, especially when Stubhub requires the seller to provide the original email from Ticketmaster (or whomever they were bought from) as part of the transaction.
  14. Branagh is one of the few classically trained actors we have left who's still doing a mix of film and stage. He's also one of the very few who's keeping the Bard in the spotlight on a regular basis. His Macbeth was awesome. His Hamlet was eons better than the crap that Mel Gibson presented.
  15. That people would hand cash money to someone on the street begs the question: How dumb can people be? Stubhub, Ticketsnow (a division of Ticketmaster), etc all are viable ways for guaranteed aftermarket tickets.
  16. No worries... I found his IP. He's not very smart about cloaking himself. Guys like this (mistakenly) think that hiding behind their ISP will keep their trolling private. That's funny
  17. Cultivating a group of clients who all share 'wanting a connection' as the common bond is what has made my time as an escort fantastic I knew from very early on that this is what I wanted. It's not for everyone.
  18. I hope ALW is paying you a handsome stipend for all of this promotion
  19. When a script or the acting is weak, they insert a gag to keep people in the seats.
  20. Send me his IP. I can handle the rest
  21. Gauche http://www.dictionary.com/browse/gauche
  22. The show is nearly always on TDF and TKTS for those who have the access. RCMH is a barn of a venue (with the sound and sightlines to match), but it's tradition for many.
  23. No one seems to believe his bullshit anyway: Don't sweat it. And if you really want to know more about this no-show, send me his email headers. I'd be glad to decipher his IP for you
