Taxis are easy and the bus will take you to the beaches (It's an easily caught, open-air local bus). To some beaches, you also need to take a water taxi... It's a lot of fun and a beautiful way on and off the sand. Take a look at the Elyseum Hotel. I stayed there once and it was great. Gay owned/operated. Fantastic location.
